No I believe it was BT as they asked for me personally and I didnt give any further details.

Thanks for your suggestion. I shall check this thread again in the morning before we regroup and consider the options

No seriously, baliisticbrian is right- BT don't call when you use a premium number- go look at the complaints on the phone board where people wish they would call before they rack up £000s of pounds worth of charges.

A pop up to a dodgy link, a call back on the same number you used- sounds like you have a problem. Go over to the tech boards and ask for advice about a deep clean and investigate your PC, you may have something on there and it could potentially be watching for your ebay or paypal password.

Which? Surely that's the most important part, if it was on Ebay it's a serious matter, if the latter it could be a virus on your computer.

when i opened the website my anti-virus blocked something from opening so it does seem a VERY dodgy site.

Plus its as clear as day they are nothing to do with paypal, ebay or twitter

You should probably also be aware that the website listed here has a black hole exploit on it, in other words some sort of virus.

Might be better not to trust that site.

I never trusted eBay will never trust. It's full of scammers and if you are not careful you get screwed.

Ok, thanks for this wonderful insight and very informative post.
