Topping up Santander 123 2 year ISA by 30th May[Someone tell the staff this]

My wife has the 3% 2 year 123 Major ISA that states you can top up by 30th May the full £5760 for this tax year.So I sent her to a Santander branch to do this this morning by cheque[as for some silly reason you cant top up online].The assistant said you cant top up these accounts as they are fixed [even though my wife explained it was the earlier one that you could]So I went with her to another branch armed with paperwork sent by H.O.,and again was denied paying any money in.Till I showed her the small print stating we could. So I suggest people take their paperwork with them if they are going to top up before 30th May.

Unfortunately this is a common misconception and I had to correct some colleagues on this recently.0

Wish I knew that [topping up online].On the paperwork it is unclear and implies that you have to service account in branch.0

I found out to my cost that you can only top up with new cash to the £5760 limit until the end of May. I was hoping to transfer in a previous year's ISA after about 3 weeks of opening - no joy.

Afraid, this information was there when you signed up, so it looks it's one for your "lessons learnt" box. Or, as I was told by one of my bosses many years ago: RTFM0
