I have a similar question.... to travel Pulborough to Gatwick cheapest is £9.95 on southern, but to go Pulborough to Victoria (same train) is £5 - can I just get off at Gatwick. Same goes for return, can I get on at Gatwick with a Vic-Pul ticket.

Not for advance fares, if that's what that trip to Victoria would be.

These are supposed to be used only for the stations and train specified, so getting on or off elsewhere isn't allowed.

Given that the £5 ticket is an advance - then no you can't
