My parents have booked for Oct too for 3 return flights which is a large amount of money. It's not the best timing for me and my parents personally as they had to deal with the fiasco at T5 at Heathrow which turned out OK in the end plus they have just booked the hotel yesterday.
Thanks for the link on Maxjet moonrakerz.
I will keep you posted with any progress on my parent's potential claim/refund.0 -
Try this:http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/money_and_credit/bought-on-credit/
CONSUMER CREDIT ACT 1974
SECTION 75 – EQUAL LIABILITY
That's what you need to quote to your credit card company if they aren't helpful.

What a shame. I flew with them a few weeks ago and it was a really good flight.
I hope everyone gets their money back.0 -

According to the post below re Maxjet - someone got a refund from their Halifax Visa Debit card.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=8517769&postcount=133
But when I rang them earlier they said my VISA debit card wouldn't cover me.
Anyone have any more info on VISA debit card cover?0 -
Just seen this - absolutely gutted.
Scheduled to fly in June.
Paid by Visa Debit last year.
Took our a annual travel insurance policy last month - doubt that will be any use but any ideas?
Can't believe it0 -
if you took your policy out last month and this happened today, you are ok (if your insurance covers for things like this), as your policy runs from the day you took it out....
its worth a try0 -

Hi, it was me who managed to get a refund off of the Halifax from my Visa Debit card. Took a few phonecalls and having to quote various articles I'd found which got posted up in the Maxjet thread. In the end I had to go via customer complaints even this took several calls. I'll dig out what info I have and pm it to you.0 -
Marky,
Thanks as ever mate.
It's with flexicover direct, I will dig it out and have a look now, I was concerned that as I booked the trip last year, that taking out the insurance only this last month wouldn't have any effect.
Will check this out now...0 -
Cancellation cover applies if You have booked a Trip to take place within the Period of Insurance, but You are forced to
cancel Your travel plans because of one of the following changes in circumstances, which is beyond Your control, and of
which You were unaware at the time You booked the Trip. See also Section 7 (Travel Delay).
We will reimburse up to a maximum of £3,000per Insured Person in total under this policy for financial loss You suffer, being
non-refundable deposits and amounts You have paid (or have contracted to pay), for travel and accommodation You do not
use because of Your inability to commence travel or complete the Trip.
Looks like a £75 excess. I paid £226 for my flights...
The real shame is that i'll never find a deal as good as that, so doubt i'll be able to go despite getting some money back...0
