Default Never Spend Tesco Clubcard Vouchers In-store!!!

Why Not?

Simply put, clubcard vouchers are worth an average 3.4 times as much if you redeem them on Tesco's 'Deals'. (Tesco says its 4 times, but its not quite that much as that's valuing at list price, whereas my 3.4 is based on the readily available price)

Deals Tesco offers include discounts on car rental, cases of wine, Eurostar and Eurotunnel trips, days out to Legoland and Madame Tussauds, roadside recovery (full article coming soon), hotel stays and many others.

Spending them in store is simply a waste of money.

How do you get them?

Customers receive 1 Clubcard point for every £1 spent in Tesco which means spend £1000 and you earn 1000 points or £10 in Clubcard vouchers. Spend these in store and you'd get £10 off your shopping bill. However convert them to Clubcard Deals Tokens and they're worth 3.4 times as much.

How do they compare to other loyalty schemes?

I've a chart of the major loyalty schemes. Read Value Your Loyalty Points.

MoneySavers please click reply to discuss what the best redemption deals you've found are. Here's some for starters:

* £5 Clubcard vouchers (500 points) = £20 Clubcard deal vouchers = A half day Skirmish Paintball Game for one person inc 200 paintballs

* £10.00 Clubcard vouchers (1000 points) = £40 Clubcard deal vouchers = One year subscription to Men's Health or Zest (& others)

* £11.25 Clubcard vouchers (1125) = £45 Clubcard deals vouchers = 12 rentals at Blockbuster

* £14 Clubcard vouchers (1400 points) = £55 Clubcard deal vouchers = Family ticket (4 guests) for Camelot Theme Park

* £150 Clubcard vouchers (15,000 points) = £600 Clubcard deals vouchers = £600 to be redeemed at Cosmos, Bridge, Cresta Holidays & others

I'm saving up for a UK holiday by eating organic burgers and birds eye beef in gravy. Not together

(see the thread on extra points goods )

I was under the impression that the deals tokens were worth 4 times the vouchers.

I have a tesco credit card too (first ever cc ), so I get 3 points per £2 spent in store and also a point for every £2 spent using it outside of tesco.

We recently spent about £600 on a week away in the uk. A friend went for a week away with the same company, costing just over £600, but paid about £200 and the rest in tesco deals vouchers. I am going one better next summer and getting the whole lot paid for (hopefully), with other weekends away which we wouldn't have got otherwise.

Got to go, it's beef in gravy time.

Two year's ago we went to DLP for Bonfire Night, courtesy of Tesco Clubcard Vouchers. If I remember correctly, the cost of the holiday was just over £500 and I think it cost us £6. I have already paid for Avis car hire in the South of France for this summer which came to £336 and cost me £6. Last week I booked DLP for New Year's Eve (£1,056 for 4 people at the Sequoia Lodge - stupid money, I think), and £1,050 deals tokens turned up today, which will be winging their way to Cresta tomorrow, Special Delivery.

By the way, as an aside, our contents insurance and travel insurance is with Liverpool Victoria, and they have confirmed, in writing, that, in the event of cancellation, the vouchers would be covered, in full.

I only have £72 in clubcard vouchers left at the moment, but there are at least £100 worth to come with the August mailing.

Please, please, if anyone finds any good points promotions, apart from the Birds Eye Roast Beef, I would love to know.

I have used Clubcard vouchers in the past on the BSM Driving Lessons Deal. Did this three times. Saved us a fortune. Maybe a holiday next.

A VERY good point - most travel insurance policies will not refund a holiday paid for with vouchers if you need to cancel, as they have no real monetary value.

I don't go on holidays due to my 'illness' so how would I benefit from not spending in store?

Is it advisable to make as much from them as possible by selling on eBay?

I use my Clubcard vouchers for Air Miles. The advertised rate is £2.50 for 60 Air Miles, but I was sent a special offer when Tesco first started offering Air Miles, and I get 80 for every £2.50.

Hi guys

Could you tell me whether you still get the points on these selected items even if you do an online grocery shop?

TIA

Nicky

I use my points for Yates vouchers, £2.50 of Tesco coupons equals a £10 Yates voucher. My local Yates does meal deals BOGOF all week, two meals for £6.99 plus wine at £4.99 a bottle. So for £20 of Yates vouchers 4 of us can eat and have a bottle of wine which I think is a great bargain.

I also used some Tesco vouchers to get Blockbuster vouchers for the children in the school holidays. Oldest son is 17 on Friday so I have applied for BSM vouchers as an extra birthday present. The BSM vouchers aren't quite as good a deal as the others, but it is still a saving.

We have six children so holidays are always expensive - we booked a week at a Havens site in Cornwall this year which would have cost us £911 but used Tesco clubcard vouchers for the lot. Also bought my little brother the driving lessons package for his 17 birthday with vouchers and parents in law the english heritage membership and yes we are eating the Birds Eye beef in gravy - we take up any offer as it comes along. For years everyone has laughed at us but having booked the holiday for free they're all of a sudden collecting as well.

We transfer our Tesco clubcard points into British Airways Executive Club miles (same principle as air miles) £2.50 in clubcard vouchers works to give you 600 miles
I need to get a bit wiser to buying things for the points - for example 9 packs of beef would give me 600 air miles for a £6.00 spend - definitely worth it

For every three items of certain frozen birds eye food you purchase, tesco kindly give you an extra 150 clubcard points. The Roast Beef in Gravy 112g packs are only 66p each, so you spend just under £2 to get 150 clubcard points. Those clubcard points equate to £6 in clubcard deals vouchers. You're effectively getting £6 towards a holiday, etc, for spending just under £2 in tesco.

Huge thread here.

Do you eat out at all? You can use the tokens in some restaurants - Bella Italia is the one that I remember, but there are others.
