Bt the way, has anyone seen the google street view of the strip? Bit dissaponting. I'm sure they wanted to show all the glittering lights, but its all turned out quite dark. You cant make much out. it seems part of the strip was filmed in daylight, then when it gets to MGM, it switches to night view. It would have been better to film it all in daylight.
there was a program on MTV last week called , "Fabulous life of Las Vegas" ...look out for that.

Two of my favorites in addition to Oceans 11 & Oceans 13. I also love Vegas Vacation even though I HATE Chevy Chase movies as a rule.

And Casino - definately...then go to Peppermill for the fire pit.

Default Cheap Virgin Flights

Does anyone know how I can get cheap direct Virgin Flights for next June 2009? When I say cheap I mean near to £500 as possible.

Leaving London Monday 15th June going to Las Vegas, and then returning from Los Angeles to London on the 27th June 09.

The flights on the Virgin website are currently £650+, any codes or special offers?????

Read through the last 20 pages, good thread. Looking at going next April and browsing BMI suggests prices are reasonable. Seeing as we are being forced to go via Chicago, is it possible to break up the journey with 1 or 2 nights there or something? Anyone ever done this?

miles plus money is all i know ofyou have a flying club member and accrue some miles between now and then

Edit - just looked on my account and it would be 2000 miles per adult and bring the price down to £581 per person using miles plus money
buying 2000 miles would cost £45, but there are many other ways to get those miles for free.

Chicago is a great city and loads to do with decent public transport. April weather would likely be pretty nice I think. Have you checked if you can do a stopover for a few days at no extra cost though? Sometimes you can, other times you end up with a much more expensive fare. Also, I think BMI fly direct to Vegas on certain days of the week so might be worth checking fares for those days to see how they compare.

I grew up near Chicago and think it's worth visiting, but personally it's not nearly as interesting as Vegas.

Reports seem to indicate that you can't get M+M fares if you haven't flown with Virgin and earned miles the old fashioned way, though - at least I'm sure others have said you can't buy miles and then get M+M fares straight away - not sure about earning them through other ways like the credit card...I agree that M+M is a good option if you've got the miles, but I wouldn't buy miles the first time around based on what I've read.

Also, while never in the peak months, we went for quite a long time with £298-£312.50 M+M fares - mostly in November...sad that those days seem to be well and truly over!

Flying out to Vegas on the 21st. Thinking of booking a meal at the Stratosphere, before we go. Plan to do the GC, some shows and what ever else comes our way. Want to see some live music.

Default Circus Circus

Goingto LV for the first time staying at Circus circus for two nights 3 and 4 September

What sort of freebies can I expect when I book in ? what sort of success have people had asking for extras - as a complete novive what sort of extras can you ask for.

Also what would be a good source for freebies ( gambling variety ), local newspapers etc ?

Went to Atlantic City years ago on a bus trip and got vouchers for gambling chips and a buffet lunch which were more than the bus fare - poor student days.

Thanks to all the posts on here have been interesting read.

Steve,

I saw Lance Burton in May at the Monte Carlo, loved the show and would certainly reccomend it. I couldn't believe some of the things that he did.

Sign up for the players clubs at the various casinos - it's free, you usually get some sort of freebies for joining.Keep an eye out for the various magazines available here and there - back of taxis are always a good resource for coupons.

As far as freebies from the hotel, some will give you a sheet of coupons when you check in, some have some in the room, some give you nothing for just staying there unless it's a special offer.

Not sure what type of room you booked, but you can try for an upgraded room - see here, 4/4 were successful but that's not a very big sample.

Stay away from the manor rooms.

I'm to Vegas in October for the first part of my honeymoon - can't wait! We're staying at the MGM Sig. Going to see the GC, and have other things we want to see while we're there. I think it'll take me the next 8 weeks to read this thread, but looks to be loads of good info in here!

Question What to do in Vegas

Hi all
We're going to Vegas for the first time on the 17th November, we're only there for 4 days and 3 nights, as we're also going onto LA and San Francisco.

We're staying at the Bellaggio (woohoo ) I wondered whether anyone can tell us what we really should do there, time will be short and I really don't want to be wandering around deciding what to do!

Not too big on gambling, love shopping and would ideally like to see one of the Cirque Du Soleil shows.

Where's the best buffets/restaurants to eat that won't break the bank?

Thanks!

Same here, we saw him last month and thought he was amazing.

We were going to go and see David Cooperfield but a few people said to us go and see Lance Burton instead... glad we did.
