I have not had them but know people that have and they all seem to like themselves better. If you are thinking of having it done make sure you have lots of button up or zip up tops because you cannot raise your arms above your head for ages without it hurting so pulling tee shirts and jumpers over your head is out for a while.

I am very flat chested and it has never bothered me but it seems to bother other people. They seem to think they have a right to mention it every so often. A friend of mine had hers done and they look fab. I always wonder if I had the money, would I have it done. Nah, sod having to go back every 10 years to get them re-done. Imagine being in your 70's and having them done?

    As you considering it Kate?

I know many friends that have had them ;0). Yes it's painful, but it is an operation where they cut you open and rummage around a bit! There is always a risk.

But saying that ALL of them are delighted with the results and not one of them regret it. All of them have also gone for a size that suits there bodies, I don't know anyone that has gone in excess of that.

You must however pick a good surgeon. Top tip would be to go via your own GP who will then send a letter to their own recommended Surgeon. Research by talking with people that have had it done.

You have to also consider that it's not just £5k now, but again in years to come. As far as I know, although they don't know the life of the implants these days, but they would be in excess of 15 years, assuming no problems occurr.

Good luck with your decision. Feel free to PM me if you wish.

I think there have been a few threads in the I Wanna board about this, maybe some here in the health section too...do an advanced search for it and change the date which it searches from so you don't miss any older threads.
You could also try searching the Arms threads for the same, as I *think* there might be some there.

If I remember rightly, BAPS or BAAPS are the authorised surgeons to look for, but personal recommendation is always good.

I believe phillipa36 on here has had augmentation, so maybe search for threads by her?

The only other thing I would say is to be sure you are 110% certain you want the surgery. Better posture, a Wonderbra or even just a professional bra-fitting to ensure you are wearing the right size are all things you might want to consider if not sure about surgery...see clicky

thanks for the replies, i have wanted a boob job since i was about 15, i am now 24, so lots and lots of thought has gone into it! I dont want to go stupidly big, just one cup size bigger to a D. I watch loads of cosmetic surgery programs so i am fully aware of any risks. I just wanted to see what other peoples experience of implants are. the only thing i am worried about is getting knocked out, never been knocked out before!
plus i have to get the OH to agree(doesnt look like he will agree any time soon tho) :(

If you're going to do it then research every aspect of it and actually speak to women who have had it done - being happy with them doesn't mean that there aren't drawbacks. FWIW, the men I know who have experience of implants say they look great but a lot of the men don't like the 'feel' of them (most of them seem to see it as a badge of honour that they're had a past girlfriend who'd had implants though). At 24 I'd say you're still very young - your breasts will change a lot as you get older. That doesn't mean don't have it done but bear in mind that what you have now will change as you get older and things like putting on weight, having children, etc will all alter how they look and feel. I'd also say that as a C cup you're blessed anyway - I'm rarely anything more than a B! But it's a very personal thing as to how you feel about that and there's a big difference between a 30C and a 36C so cup size isn't the only thing to judge size and proportion on. What would worry me is the upkeep of them more than the initial operation but if you know what to expect and what the long term costs are then at least you're making an informed choice. One thing I would say though is to make sure you're wearing the right bra size - we've had discussions on here before about wanting the magic cup size and when measured and fitted properly it turned out that she'd been wearing the wrong size and was actually a smaller back size and a larger cup which made a huge psychological difference.

    Good luck whatever you decide!

Not planning on posting pics sorry SS ;)

Yes, I have implants ~ I had them done about 4 years ago and so far have no problems.

I would recommend this forum the people there were really friendly to me before my surgery.

Its a very expensive procedure as well as a very personal one so read up as much as you can so that your final decision is a thoroughly researched one ~ good luck with whatever you decide.

Edit: Any questions, just pm me :)

Hello, i haven't had implants and don't intend to, so i hope you dont mind me posting. I have fairly small boobs, and yeah at times ive thought id love them to be bigger...but at the end of the day a good, well fitting bra makes a big difference to how they look. I don't plan on doing any topless sunbathing or modelling-so im not worried too much how big they look without a bra on as my hubby loves them how they are and as i said-when dressed a good bra makes me feel curvier and gives them a boost! but i can understand how some women get down over it, i have days when i feel negative about everything but i think to myself-even if i had big boobs then what? id then want my stomach flatter, thighs smallers, hair different, less wrinkles etc with some people getting one thing done isnt enough....but with others its the boost they need? everyones different.

I personally dont like the idea of something so fake being inside my body, the actual procedure (an op for something that doesnt need to be done) and the fact that they dont last forever-they 'll need replacing at some point. also it's all money money money!! so to me, no-its not worth it.

I reckon its all to do with confidence-we can all be happy whatever size we are....in some circumstances i think counciling would help a lot of people who are feeling down about their bodies and lacking confidence in themselves.

Sorry to go on, and i dont intend on offending or upsetting anyone with my opinions-just my thoughts and views!

    Keely.
