Hello ! I can't believe what a helpful site this is !!!

I am in the process of battering the hell out of HSBC and their RIDICULOUS charges... mine were £150 and that's just for ONE MONTH on a personal account (last month). They owe me £1162 altogether apparently - fortunately I never throw statements away, so now I am plooughing through 6 years worth of credit card statements (7 different credit cards, 2 bank accounts) lol

Sent an email to them and they said they would reverse the £150 in FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT.

Sent my first official letter for the full £1162 on 2nd April - received a letter from them saying get stuffed (basically) on 4th April, followed by another letter (also dated 4th April) saying that they are looking into the matter and will respond in full soon.

I LOVE the interest calculator, very cool tool.

Hi funky fudge, i had exactly the same response from hsbc mid march, 1 letter saying NO WAY! and another one saying add up your charges to date and we will consider your request, (letters recieved within 3 days of each other)so added my charges up and sent them to them, sent them total via recorded delivery 1/4, emailed them via internet banking yesterday and they have replied sayimg my claim is being investigated!!! think im gonna just email them every day till they get sick of me, let me know how you get on with them

Well I'm glad my hubby found this site - it's nice to know that there are other peopl ein the same boat - even if it is a crappy old boat with big holes in it !! lol

One thing that did surprise me though, was the SPEED at the banks responses... all of the ones i contacted on the 2nd April have responded in one way or another... with Barclaycard being the most generous by far (offering a third of the amount owed on 2 cards). I thought that perhaps they would bury their heads in the sand a bit... ahh well, bring it on I say, makes a change from cooking !! lol

Hubby was saying earlier on the radio HSBC have anounced that they are no longer going to accept over the counter transactions from us "poor" accountholders who don't have at least £2K in a savings account with them or at least a £200K mortgage?? I'll go and get some more details... needless to say, wasn't tooo surprised

I am just about to send off my letter to reclaim £1,330 from HSBC for the last 6 years worth of charges (most of which were taken from me when they KNEW i was unemployed!) [this was also the same time i got into the debt mess im in now]

then i plan to close my account myself (in process of setting up my parachute account, crossing fingers that the bank i applied with will accept me) as HSBC have given me nothing but sh*t for the last 4 years and no help in my financial struggles - their managed loan will take me til;2018 to pay off and i've had it 2 years already, its at 9k started at 10,500 i must have paid back nearly £2000 just in interest on that loan! if it had NO INTEREST that means it would be down to 6k or less by now the theiving evil people

anyway - i digress

does HSBC tend to just award the charges refund without too much hassle - i know 2 friends at the same local branch as me got theirs back within a month (£600 and £500 respecively)

Debt at start (Aug 2003): £13,500 >>Debt Now (Mar 2009): £9,104
HSBC charges WON (april 07): £1,103.00
HSBC PPI WON!!! (July 08): £1,166.00
HFC PPI WON!!! (August 08) £2,100

ooh may be able to open account there if they give me my charges back NOT!
They actally owe me £2,200 but can assure you that if they do cough up what they owe me it will be going straight into my brad and bingley account,
Aparantly not only do u need 2 grand savings but you need to earn a minimum of 75 grand a year (or something like that)

No don't worry - the only branch this applies to is Canford Cliffs in Dorset. Very wealthy neighbourhood which obviously doesn't like to rub shoulders with us riffraff...

your branch will stay the same unhelpful, overexpensive, exasperating place it probably always has been...

LOL !! Funny you should say that.....I went to see my business account manager at hsbc a few weeks ago about opening a business account - I knew this would be tricky due to default notices on my credit file BUT i kind of hoped for the best... I was very honest about my situation and the default notices... he did the credit check, no sorry, can't help you..... so then someone recommended Lloyds TSB to me. I went there, told him how I had got into the mess, told him I was getting OUT of the mess and just need a business account with NO Credit facilities to get me started....previous debts were divorce related NOT business related - he opened the account then and there. That's what prompted me to go and STUFF HSBC and their ridiculous £150 per month bank charges. If they'd have given me the business account I would have put up with it.... so sod them. I want my ball back, I'm going HOME lol

Does anyone know the email address, as my account was closed last year, i cant email thro the internet banking.

I sent letter requesting statements 29 Jan

Sent first letter for refund 22 Feb

Sent LBA to PO Box in Leeds 19 March

Now their time is up, but had to pay for car repairs and now cant afford to go thro with the court, so trying to estimate a response time and try to get them to settle soon. Im claiming for £1420 without interest (£1790 with interest), all my letters have included the interest, so hopefully get them to settle without the interest.

Hi everybody,

I finally got thro to them on the phone today, on the phone, he told me a letter was sent to me yesterday, now any peeps with expierence, in your opinions and looking at the dates i sent the letters off, is this letter likely to be an offer, a refusal or justa standard we are still looking into it?

Thanks

PMSL !!!! oh dear, that beats the pants off of my local branch !!

I particularly "enjoy" their Indian Call Centre... I almost feel sorry for the poor unfortunate souls that call us at 10pm at night asking why our credit card payment is 2 hours late No, seriously, they did. TWICE. And that was AFTER I had paid the HSBC credit card via HSBC online banking. They could see both times that the money had been transferred FROM the bank account to the card and STILL Wanted to know when we would be making payment.

lol

Hi there

8 weeks will be from the date they first wrote to you. i received a second letter that was more of the same and ended up proceeding to court...am now waiting for court date which could be June...

So, if you're not so worried about getting the interest on top, you're likely to get your money back quicker by waiting the 8 weeks.

(by the way I sent my letters to Quality Service Centre at Arlington Business Centre in Leeds - is that the same place as your PO Box address?)
