We are planning on buying the Recaro Young Sport. A friend highly recommended these to us and has bought 2! Quite pricey, cheapest I have seen on the net has been about £135 but at least you don't have to buy again since it lasts the child from 9 months-12 years. HTH0

Hi
not got any recommendations i'm afraid because we decided, having looked at all the seats that due to the nature of them (ie saving our baby/childs life in the event of an accident), We didn't want to be relying on something 10 years old at any point!! We eventually bought a maxi cosi and its a great seat. Yes, it was expensive but we will get 3 and a bit years use out of it, by which point, general wear and tear will probably mean it needs replacing with something different any way.
I'm concerned about the 12 year range and they normally aren't guaranteed for 12 years BTW. I don't understand how a car seat manufacturer can know that a car seat is even going to last that long?!? Constantly in a hot/cold car, over the years the fabrics would fade and plastics be subjected to extremes of temperature which can't be good for them. Compulsory car seats haven't really been around long enough to KNOW that a car seat will last the 12ish years it needs to in order to fulfil the manufacturers suggestion that the seat is fit for 9mths to 12 years.....
And if you SHOULD have an accident, the car seat should be replaced anyway for safety.
Additionally, we weren't convinced that a seat designed to be comfortable for a 12 year old would protect a 9 month old, (or vice versa really) regardless of the amount of changes and movements you could make to the seat in the interim.
I know that finances are an issue for everyone but it might be a false economy spending money on a seat which you expect to last you for years, only to have it fail or become unsuitable in 5 years....
Hope this helps in your decision.

I have used the Maxi Cosi Priori SPS for both my children. I found it really easy to install and both boys found it really comfortable.
It be purchased from Pram Centre Online and Kiddicare for £99 - I have bought from both these websites in the past with no problems.

If you have a Quidco account you can also get 4% cashback if you use Kiddicare
I also only used these seats until they were 4 years old and then changed to a Cybex Solution +0 -

Apologise for hijacking the topic somewhat but can any one comment on the Cybex solution x-fix please?
I'm in the market for 4+ seat and cant decide between Maxi Cosi Rodi XR - Britax Kidfix - Cybex solution x-fix
I'm swaying towards cybex or britax due to their isofix capability0 -
As a lover of the Maxi Cosi Priori, I initialy bought the Maxi Cosi Rodi for my older son but I was disappointed with it's stability in my car (Honda CR-V) so for my younger son I bought the Cybex Solution+ (an older version of the Cybex Solution x I guess).
Once I received the Cybex I was really impressed with it and bought one for my older son as well!
If you do buy the Cybex then check out Mamas & Papas as they currently have the Isofix version in four different colours for £75!

Thanks for that.....
I decided to take the plunge before your reply but it's good that you think highly of the cybex. It was the ISO fix and the head protection that sold it for me. oh... and yes... i did buy through M&P and with delivery it all came to 79.95.... and hopeful of taking delivery either tomorrow or the day after....0 -
Ferrari F430 can be both stressful and time consuming. It is even costly at times and it becomes difficult to find a genuine buyer.

I would never have thought about the wear and tear but our Maxi Cosi car seats have done both children so far, we had the carry one group 0 and it has done both boys for their first year, DS1 has gone into the maxi cosi high backed booster and DS2 has gone into DS1's 9 month - 4 year one which has been used for 3 years and i have looked after it, the fabric isn't as great as it used to be but i believe they can be bought from maxi cosi - anyways what i am getting at is, it is 4 years old and showing harldy any signs of wearDFW Nerd #awaiting number - Proud to be dealing with my debts!
Dont cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
