When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:D:D

Morning All,

Hope no one minds me starting the thread today – I woke up early this morning and thought I’d use the time wisely (and posting on here focuses my mind)

Today I have/will:
· [STRIKE]Checked online banking[/STRIKE] – no change there, but I always check
· Enter comps online
· Daily scratches
· Meals from storecupboards
· Have a NSD
· Read more of the new library book
· [STRIKE]Looked online for a recipe for Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Curry[/STRIKE] – found one and put it into the WW thingamybob to find out the points value
· Need to write a food plan for this week (including the curry)
· [STRIKE]Filled in my blood donor form ready for my apt at the end of the month[/STRIKE]
· Clear more of Nan’s house – might move boxes into storage unit
· [STRIKE]Need to check last nights lottery ticket[/STRIKE] £6.40 will buy 1 ticket and split the rest of the money
· Avoid going into town as it will be really busy with Xmas shoppers
· [STRIKE]Write a letter applying for a job in the paper (not too sure whether it is acceptable to email my CV over?)[/STRIKE] - done and emailed off to brother and brother in law for their opinion
· Washing on 30
· Sort out what veggies I am going to plant next year
· Try to work out how to put together my new trousers that I am making
· Not use my mobile as I have £2.10 left on it and I do not want to top it up til the end of the year
· Make soup out of what is in the fridge/store cupboard for the week ahead

Think that is about it but I am sure there is more to do, take care everyone

  • HI Lottie sorry to hear thatyour order was messed up how annoying!

Tidied up the drawers in the bathroom and found several big bottles shampoo, conditioner and bath creme stuff - so now just filled up all the smaller shampoo and soap dispensers with stuff - I especially like the Mr T coconut shampoo which is really cheap but great - I put this into the smaller 'posher' Boots bottle for coconut shampoo which is about 4X the price (dont tell them!!)

Also think we have enough stuff for a while yet - so that saves on spends!!

    Hi All,

*Have posted parcel for ebay buyer - managed to guess postage right for once using kitchen scales. Last week I ended up out of pocket :( Have now found luggage scales so hoping for no more repeats.
*Need to clean out car and list on autotrader.
*Trip to second hand shop to sell old violin
*photograph more stuff for ebay - if I've managed to charge batteries for camera.
*trip to london to see brother this evening, not very DFW, but in MSE style I hunted round the different sites and managed to get fares for half the price quoted by The Trainline (not split ticketing or anything, just them claiming I could not get an off peak ticket!)

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Well, I managed to sell the violin - man only offered £15 and I was too shy to barter, trying not to be disappointed in myself and look on it as £15 more than I had this morning.

Rain stopped me hoovering out car so car partially cleaned - fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Called BT to reduce my package on landline but can only make one change at a time, so need to call again on Tuesday to get full reduction down to most basic package. After Tuesday saving should be £4.45 per month (a grand £53.40 annual saving).
