No, you can ring, email, write to the OR at any time and they will help you.
You can also send them this, recorded delivery.Your Address

NOTICE: Pursuit of a debt included in a bankruptcy. Do not ignore this letter. You must cease collection activity IMMEDIATELY.
Dear Sir/Madam
Account No: *****************
You have contacted us regarding the account with the above reference number, which you claim is owed by ourselves.
I would point out that the account was included in my bankruptcy which commenced on <date>.
Consequently, the debt in question is no longer my legal responsibility.
ALL contacts and claims regarding the debt MUST be addressed to the Official Receiver's Office dealing with the case.
My case was XXX of 200X, at <somewhere> County Court, and the address of the Official Receiver is below.
<Address of the OR.>
A copy of the bankruptcy order is enclosed for your convenience.
Please note that the Official Receiver has requested that all future contact from your company regarding these accounts is reported and forwarded to themselves, and that continued contact with myself may result in Official Receiver taking enforcement actions against your organisation.
Please also note that we are familiar with the ‘Office of Fair Trading Debt Collection Guidance’ which states that it is unfair to send demands for payment to an individual when the debt is not due.
In not ceasing collection activity whilst investigating a reasonably queried or disputed debt you are using deceptive/and or unfair methods.
Furthermore, ignoring and/or disregarding claims that debts have been settled or are disputed and continuing to make unjustified demands for payment amounts to physical/psychological harassment.
In addition, your continued telephone calls are in breach of the Office of Fair Trading guidelines. If you continue with them after the receipt of this letter an official complaint, together with a log recording the times and frequency of the calls will be passed both to that office and to the Trading Standards office.
This type of debt collection method is contrary to the ‘Administration of Justice Act 1970’ in that it is intended to cause alarm and distress to the recipient. Your methods will not be tolerated. A formal complaint will be submitted to the relevant authorities. This will be relevant to questions of your fitness to hold a licence under the Consumer Credit Act, whether or not it results in a prosecution.
Take further note that continued telephone calls after the receipt of a request not to call may constitute a criminal offence under Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.
We await your written confirmation that this matter is now closed.
We look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully

If you have already tried to resolve the situation but getting nowhere fast, you could also try Barclays Head Office Customer Relations, (08457 55 55 55) based in Wavertree, Liverpool, failing that, from my experience if you address a letter (or cc a copy of the above letter) to the Chief Executive or Chairman at their Head office in Canary Wharf, you can be sure it will be taken seriously!! These letters are given immediate attention and passed to a Senior Manager to deal with.
Hope this is some help to you, Good Luck!0 -
i just told barclays that i could not pay, when i was made br i informed them and i have not had one call since 3rd november. hope that helps.0

I had a similar issue regarding Barclay's personal loan.....it appears the various BArclay's departments do not talk to each other.
My phone calls really started, after they tried to claim the DD from my barclays bank account......[which was overdrawn, but on their funny £500 emergency overdraught thingy]......a couple of months after my BR!
Their problem arose because Barclays closed, and zeroed the balance, on my account...once informed of my BR by the OR [8 weeks after BR!!]
now....if the old account had been closed and wiped clean, upon being notified by OR of my BR..then surely the message must have filtered through to teh personal loans payment chasers pretty quick??
obviously, in my case, that was a 'no?'
eventually they got the message...I did little to aid the situation, I admit..not my problem if a multi-billion dollar bank like Barclays cannot get their admin act together?
[ I enjoyed te palpable consternation on the other end of the phone, when payment was demanded, with threats of damaging my credt rating!!!!!!!!....when asked how I'll pay, I said I wont...when asked why not? I said, I didn't want to!...there would usually follow a few seconds of bluster....eventually they'd give up.....but I didn't tell 'em I was BR! As far as I was concerned, they knew already......but then, I'm not the easiest of people to bully or threaten.]No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
I had a similar problem with Barclays but I said I couldn't pay because it would be an infringement of my bankruptcy.

i was being chased by barclay card - every night up to last monday just said sorry can't pay didn't say anything abou the BR. I was so looking forward to telling them on Tuesday when they phone, They had phoned everyday for weeks I was sure I would get the call.
Since going BR I know only 3 companies had my phone number (we'd already changed it 4 times in 7 years to stop getting call) I've expected 1 call, I've not even had a missed call

Barclayard - or, to be perfectly fair, their internal dobermans 'MERCERS' hounded me relentlessly for months after I had informed them of my bankruptcy - they simply would not listen as I quoted my Bankruptcy date and number.
They even had the audacity to ask for the name, and contact number, of my OR.
When I contacted the OR, I was told that Barclaycard had been informed, by them, of my bankruptcy, within six weeks of my OR meeting.
Even stating that fact to their persitent 'Liverpudlian' caller made no difference.
I even received text messages, on my mobile, stating that my new Barclaycard had been posted to me, with increased limit, and that I should all them to activate without delay.
The internal communication, at Barclays, leaves a lot to be desired.
The calls did, eventually stop. :rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
