We had lunch at Enoteca San Marco about 18 months ago and we really enjoyed it. The food and wine were good, and the atmosphere in the Square is great. The TA reviews though are quite mixed but i hadn't read them before going thankfully or we probably would have skipped it tbh. Another good dining option in the Square is Postrio, we'll probably have lunch again in one of these two next week:D

Just got this offer from Bill's Gambling Hall:

    https://www.billslasvegas.com/promo/?mode=rates&code=IBFBL&source=bills_jun09_JulyFIT&KEY=874241-842890&EDID=0PNSYG-NRM5O-WGK55M-08YHLH-UMI47-v1

    from $39 midweek - to September 3rd

We stayed there 2 nights last year & thought it was great value for money. It's small so easy to find your way around & you can use the pool at the Flamingo too.

In addition the rooms are pretty big & the beds were very comfortable. For those who like theirs TVs there's a 42 inch plasma there too. It's in a great location mid-strip.

Only thing I disliked was the small bathroom but for this price I'd stay there again.

Thanks Ferf just told my OH that you are one of the Gurus on this thread so if you say its outstanding it must be great!

Hi Bexster - I'm by no means a guru of anything at all. :) All 4 of us did really enjoy our meal and in general the reviews are really good.

    http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g45963-d618650-Reviews-Envy_Steakhouse_and_Lounge_at_the_Renaissance-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html

As for the monorail from Venetian - Harrahs/Imperial Palace Station is the closest to you at Venetian and it's a 4 1/2 minute ride to the Convention Centre stop, but unless you're going to buy all-day passes for the monorail that day anyway, probably a taxi both ways would work out pretty close to the same price and more convenient than schlepping from Venetian to the monorail station and the opposite on the return. We got a taxi from Envy as we were going downtown and you just have to go to the front of the hotel and the doorman will hail a taxi from the street (normal people cannot hail taxis in Vegas, but doormen with whistles can. :))

I totally agree with the others that for a first trip you shouldn't go too crazy with the restaurant.com vouchers as your plans will probably go out the window about 5 minutes after arriving. ;) Ben and Jerry's is for us a must-have because there's always room for ice cream, of course...but go easy on them otherwise. We normally use 2-3 a trip but have been several times and have our favorites we know we will us, but like Luci, I have no doubt that we will not get around to using all of those we've bought in the 80% off sales even with a year to use them.

other mid-priced dining options we like:

    Sugar and Ice (Wynn)
Ellis Island (BBQ or steak special)
Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar (Harrahs)
    Rainforest Caf! (MGM)
Paris Cafe (agree with Luci– we eat here sometimes several times in a trip)
    Pyramid Cafe (Luxor)
    Le Burger Brasserie (Paris)

We rarely do fast food or fine dining in Vegas...I'm still a bit perplexed as to how it's possible to miss the mid-range options when there are so many of them. :)

    And to add to those
    Cheescake factory
Dan Marino's (how on earth did a group of guys on your type of holiday miss that one ?? it attached to Hooters casino LOL)
    TGI Fridays (orleans & Downtown)
Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy

    Hi Guys,

Quick question - US Airways or Continental?

I looked at the flights again today & Continental are still higher than they were on Thursday but I noticed that US Airways seem to have good prices (£398) flying in & out of Glasgow which is a bonus.

dont know about US but continental is ok. just make sure you book your seats on their web site as soon as they are booked on expedia or wherever. the flights were comfortable enough and not bad connection times - about 90 min going out and 3 hours coming back.

the ife was ok with back of the seat lcd screens ( 5inch?), mall cop, 18 again were the current releases and old favourites like bourne identity, the harry potters, arsenic and old lace, king and i........ as well as tv shows like csi, house, scrubs, music.. but the newark to lv flight had no ife at all! leg room and the food was ok but nothing special.

but the jet lag coming back has been a killer. i got up 4am Tursday for the 5am airport shuttle for the 8.20 LV to Newark flight and got to bed about midnight Friday uk time! ( i just cant sleep on planes so decided to stay up and brave it )

word of warning about gray line shuttle buses. they arent bad going from the airport but to...... unless you are standing outside in plain view the driver will drive past the pickup point and not stop! that happened to me and when i phoned to find out what had happened the operator said it was my fault i wasnt standing outside in plain view - all i was told was to be at the pickup point. i had been standing inside the door in the airconditioned area ready and waiting. they gave me the option of waiting another hour or getting a taxi and throwing away their prepaid return. fortunately because they had originally insisted on a 3 1/2 hour gap there was still time to be picked up and get to the airport in plenty of time for a leisurely check in.

By the way, two other shuttles, showtime and executive shuttles both stopped and the drivers came inside to check for their pickups, but not gray line.
2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,

You may be lucky they even turned up...I've read soooo many reviews of return shuttles just never arriving and panicked passengers having to take a taxi to the airport. :)
