When do train fares usually change?

Hi

My train fares just went up. I am going to buy an annual season ticket, but the price has just gone up by about £500 pounds! What I am wondering is do the fares always go up at the beginning of the year? If so then I will be stuck buying tickets at the new prices for every year! Does anyone remember when they last went up? (I use south eastern trains).

Thanks
Ben

Just buy your annual ticket now and before the end of the year buy your next season ticket. Assuming you are in it for the long haul it will probably work out cheaper. Will your company not give you a loan for your season ticket?
  • Thanks. I can get a loan.

It's a good idea to buy a new one again before the fares go up. Thanks. Just annoying that I missed the boat - should have been more organised!

They usually go up on the first working Monday in January
