What's a reasonable state for a second hand car to be in..

Obviously age depending but mine is a 2005 MG-ZR and as some of you know it has a pulling problem when i brake, have just had it down the tyre place and they say all is well in regards to tyres, tracking etc but the left hand side brake disk is slightly worn and the drivers tyre is worn and has about 1000k left..

Should i or could i ask for the tyre to be replaced and the disk? as the brakes squeak too or should we have noticed when we bought it..
we didn't take it on a test drive either due to it being right at the back of the showroom and not having time, can he hold this against us?

You should have noticed both when you bought it (and also looked at the spare). The car was (and still is) road legal.

If the car is legally roadworthy, then I would guess that there isn't much you can do.

The fact that the car was at the back of the showroom should be no reason for not having a test drive, or inspecting the tyres.

Take it back and see what they say, is all I can suggest.;)
  • take it back, not sure what was on your contract though

Why on earth did you buy this car?

You've done nothing but post and moan since you bought it - yet you were raving about it before hand - even after we warned you!

And now you say you didn't test drive it. I'm not sure I have any sympathy. sorry.

If all it needs is a pair of brake discs, a tyre (you could probably swap it for the spare if full size?) and some copper grease on the back of the brake pads to stop the squeak that isn't exactly much wrong.

    It'll be something different tomorrow.....

Where to buy matching furry dice and seat covers. Or can we recommend where to get the head gasket fixed.

    Yeah but, no but...

Sods Law dictates that the headgasket will go a week after the 3 months warranty (or whatever was agreed) has run out.

Agreed...Not only did she not test drive it, she didn't even know that it had a sunroof until she got it home.

Now why can't I find buyers like this when I am selling a car?;)
