Managed to get lovely slippers, shoes can wait for 2-4 weeks (phew!), and a few bits for DD so she's all smart and gorgeous

I've moved £132 over to the pot, so am at £282.XX, hoorah! £132 is 2 weeks of diet group packs, so being away with my parents and not dieting whilst bad for the waistline is good for the finances....just need to rein myself in on the chow, lol as I'm feeling a bit tubby....

Gulp, managed to transfer £440 into the savings pot just now, as I've been paid and seemed to have this huge surplus (wonder what big bill I've forgotten about, lol.....).

The pot is nearly at the amount I need for the holidays, woo hoo!! £722.95, I think I'm less than £100 off now, apart from spending money.

Ah yes I do, but I also try and put aside money each month for things like car service (needs one soonish...), house insurance etc etc and I'm wondering if I've forgotten to do that kind of thing and will have a scary shock soon, lol.

It may just be though, that now DD is at school and goes to a cheaper childminder for fewer hours than she used to spend at nursery, that maybe just maybe, my financial nightmares are receding

Woo hoo! Well done. I hope you're feeling much better. I need to build in some sort of reserve savings for emergencies and car services too - I think I'll make that the task for the weekend

Hi Louba, I try and split things down:

car
tax £165/year
insurance £300/year
service £200/year
MOT £60/year
emergency £300/year (this can get used for car or house emergencies but it's usually the flipping car needing tyres or expensive air sensors!)
£1025 year / £85.41 month

House
insurance £300/year or £25 month

When I'm feeling in the mood, I try and put aside money for the dentist and clothes, but that rarely happens, it's just far too darned organised Luckily I have an NHS dentist who has nigh-on cured me of my dental phobia

Oops - just had a bout of paydayitis...have splurged on lovely duck duvets on LaVra A$hley for me and DD as I'm fed up of our synthetic ones not hugging our bodies on cold nights (at parents house we have good duvets and we're both sleeping better, I've done research and they are cheaper than other places, so not totally naughty) and a gorgeous dress for me that I've been coveting for months and it's now £30 cheaper than it was earlier in the season.....

*hangs my head in shame* I could have lived without the dress but I can justify it as it's so gorgeous

Oh blast, and another £85 today for a fab set of saucepans.....I do need them, as I currently only have one pan! At least I got them with 15% off, free delivery and eventually some cashback via Qu*dco

At least everything I'm buying at the moment is NEEDED (hope noone remembers the dress, lol) and I am 90% done for Christmas - need one more pressie for DD (probably M**n sand) and a present for my parents (hard to buy for these days *sigh*), so maybe I can get my NSD target and start putting money into the flipping mortgage again soon!

Iknow I am struggling to find extra OPs at the moment, everything seems to be going out as soon as its coming in! When spending all that money on presents you do need to get things for yourself as well - especially if you NEED things!

I love my duck duvet but OH finds it too warm The duvets will last for ages (aside from making you all snuggly and warm!) so over the life of them you'll get to put the cost of a few cheap ones to the mortgage and more than make up the difference

Thanks for the breakdown of costs - the weekend's task or one of them os to do my figures and include all of these

Hoorah! Just worked out that when my expenses are reimbursed this month, I will have enough in my savings pot to pay for both holidays already

So, I'll be back to overpaying very soon, what a relief! (Note to self: Keep away from holiday brochures, lol).

Back home now, achy and tired and hope that the doctor will sign me off work this week as I can't imagine being able to sit at a desk all day, but worried that he might not be sympathetic - hate being sick but also don't want to go in!

Ah yes, just remembered I need to save for DD's birthday party d'oh! £82.50 - but will have everything in the account by mid-month as - taa daa - called the nursery head office this morning to complain that my 3 requests to the actual nursery have not yet resulted in any deposit / credit note refund and the woman I spoke to was initially a bit snotty but when I told her DD's name, she changed her tune and has told me that a cheque for £100 is on its way to the nursery (not sure why, but will be calling the nursery to get them to let me know the moment they receive it, with all the post strikes, I want my money asap, not languishing in the system somewhere), and she is going to raise a cheque for the day's credit today. At long last! I was beginning to despair...

Anyway, in exciting news, I have moved 18p over to the pot as current account interest and have the grand sum of 75p on its way from Qu!dco, so I'll have hit my targets before I know it

My lurverly new saucepans have arrived already! What a bonus it is to be sat around at home - I'm feeling guilty now, feel like I should be doing *something* but then again, driving DD to school this morning (would normally walk but didn't want to kn*cker myself out in case it's too far to go there and back at the moment, lol) hurt my back, so have been taking it nice and easy (aka daytime rubbish telly and internet) from the comfort of the sofa.

Hope my new duvets come soon - I'm hoping someone at work who helps out at a monkey sanctuary will probably be pleased to get our castoffs as the poor monkeys like to cuddle up in the winter as we all do

Have moved £10.75 into the savings pot - Qu*dco 75p and £10 worth of 50ps in my not so sealed pot

Need far less for the holidays/DD's birthday party fund now but can't be bothered to work it out.

Am awake at stupid o'clock as DD and I went up to my bed last night at 7ish and both eventually went to sleep. My back was killing me yesterday, think seeing the osteopath had something to do with it.....and the wonder painkillers didn't really do the trick. I woke up a while back, came downstairs for more drugs and got sucked in to this site, the twilight zone if you will

I think I let my base level of codeine slip a bit over the last couple of days, or am doing too much now we're back on our own at home Can't bear to think of being in pain for another 6-8 weeks though!! The osteopath told me that this is the minimum length of time I've got to take it easy for

Driving to the next village to see her wiped me out back-wise, good job I'm off sick this week. Not sure how I'll manage next week when I could/should be back at work! *sigh*

Right, must stop whining and go back upstairs to give DD a sleepy cuddle I think!

Oh poor you, sounds rubbish The day after the osteopath is always worst as everything is tender so hopefully it will get better. My doctor recommended taking codine, paracetamol and ibuprofen together to kill the pain - apparently as they are different drugs they can be taken together but you do need to watch that your codine tablets don't already contain paracetamol. It made me feel a bit yucky but it did dull the pain. The other thing that did work was cold compresses but the pain I had was more muscular so not sure if this would work for you.

Hope you're feeling better today

Hope you don't mind me correcting but when your doc says you can take the tablets together, I don't think they mean at the same time. My doctor told me you can take paracetamol every 4 hours and ibuprofen every four but take them two hours apart eg, at 0800 2 x paracetamol, 10.00 2 x ibuprofen, 1200 2 x paracetamol etc so you keep your pain under control as you get pain relief every two hours.
Taking them all together might be why you felt a bit icky!
Hope this helps!

I'm on paracetamol/codeine mix and then bump up a couple of hours later with some ibuprofen if I feel I need it. Feeling a bit better now, took DD to school, only forgetting one thing (grrr) and am chilling out on the sofa
