pension contribution - what to do?

i don't have a uk-based pension set up as yet but my company has offered to give me a personal pension contribution for this year (i started to work for them early this year) - but this can only be paid into an inland revenue approved pension fund - by 11dec! to complicate matters further i will be getting a transfer within my company to another european country so i won't be paying any further into the pension fund which i'll aim to open up.
obviously i need to set up sth asap so i don't loose out on the money, but i guess it needs to be a single contribution. is this possible or do i need to continue to pay into a pension fund even if i don't stay in the uk?
ps i've got other non-UK based pension arrangements already

    Yes. No problem there.

thanks! as i've only got 3 weeks left should i see an ifa or open up a pensions via cavendish online for example? would stakeholder or private pension be better if i only want to invest this lump sum? sorry, only started to read up on this since last week once i got the offer from my company and i need to learn a lot...fast... :~)
  • If you need a quick and easy solution, go for a Stakeholder as you then get a penalty-free transfer if you want to move it to another plan. Might pay to do this to give you time to research a more suitable plan - if, indeed, the Stakeholder is unsuitable
