I am so sorry to hear that. I hope that things get better for him soon.

Right in that case you obviously won't be getting any extra money unless your tax credits go up so ignore my comments and leave it as it is. If you do get any extra put it on groceries and/or activities £5 per child per week.

Is the £120 his incapacity benefit? If so, shouldn't it go in the benefits section?

Wasn't sure about where to put the incapacity it as it isn't the whole amount as he needs some money for his bills and travel etc so it is just his contribution, will add it to benefits and give them a break down of the benefits. He is also in the process of claiming dla, but this would be used for his own needs eg travel to hospital, gym (his meds make him put weight on so has been recommended) etc would I need to let them know about that if/when he gets it?

No you wouldn't, as you said it is for his own medical needs and will be counted as so.

In that case put it down wherever you feel most comfortable. You can always explain anything in your interview if asked. The forms can be a minefield to fill in so you aren't expected to get everything 100% right - just be honest and you'll be fine.
