I have been trying to search the forums to find information on top up cards 'credit cards' but all I can find is information on actual credit cards.
Can anyone link me to the information?

To be honest, different people seem to find different ones suitable for their own circumstances and how they might use it.
I was sort of hoping the forthcoming MSE article would make things clearer, but there isn't much sign of it yet.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I personally chose the cashplus - it might not be the cheapest but it was certainly the simplest. The down side is that it takes two days to load from Post office topup and although they have many 'partner' sites, these are not always close by. I usually use it as a 'plan in advance' spend ratehr than spur of the moment and as such, i pay per use as opposed to the £5 monthly fee.
If you want something that is topped up straight away so you can use as and when you need, you are better off going for a card that charges for the top up rather than the use and most of these are paypoint cards ie you can top up at any paypoint outlet. I use Breadcard. Be warned though, there are all sorts of charges attached to these cards - some of them charge to top up and at different rates depending on whether you go to a pay point or do it via Internet banking, some charge per transaction (eg 2% of the total transaction), others charge a monthly fee. Very complicated, isn't it! But very handy, I have to say!0

I have had one of these cards for a couple of years now. The Post Office have improved the load rate as I know that I have topped up at 4pm one day and the money is there by 10:30 the next day. If you need to up and have instant access there are certain money places you can go to and the funds are available within the hour. The website www.mycashplus.co.uk shows these places quite clearly;):happyloveLife - Live it to the full, but live it wisely :A0

I've just applied for cashplus' credit builder facility. unbelievably, they give you a LOAN to cover a years fees, and it needs to be paid back at the rate of 4.95 per month. In essence, that means that you get to use the card completely for free and build your credit rating at the same time. Seems to good to be true...BCSC Member 70:j
