    Thanks you MrsM :)

Thank you for the encouragement the other day as well, I just needed to gather everything and just do it lol!

Need to work out my next project. A friend has asked me to make a keepsake box for her little girl, need to gather some ideas for that x

    2) Niece door sign (X stitch) - must be completed 01/03/13
    3) Birth sampler - baby due early May
    4) Finish blackwork angel
    5) Mum's christmas stitch
    6) Snowflake sonata (X stitch)
    7) Be jolly (X stitch)
    8) Add embellishments and make accessories for flower girls
    9) Finish Christmas bird (X stitch)
    10) pointy hat tomtes
    11) Xbox controller ring pillow - complete 24/02/2013
    12) Signs and table numbers for wedding

Woo hoo! I've finished a project. OH is a gamer so we decided our ring pillow should be in the shape of an Xbox controller.

Really pleased how it turned out :)

I've added some other wedding things to my list, as complete projects, so I feel like I'm actually making progress! So the place cards, escorts cards and display board are one project and the table numbers and other signage are another. I've also removed a cross stitch project as realistically I don't think I'll get it done this year. I've replaced it with altering/embellishing the flowergirl dresses for my neices and making them some accessories, another wedding project!

My niece's sign is coming along, as is the brooch bouquet so hopefully they'll be on the completed section soon!

I'm planning to take some cross stitching when we go away to keep me entertained on the plane. Should get lots done as it's an 11 hour flight!!

    Good Morning Ladies

Off on leave today as I have a hospital visit, so took a days leave instead of all the fuss of trying to get a day off.

So I have finished the first of my hearts for Sandy Hook -it is in my favourite colour - purple. Not to sure of how the purple looks - meant to be 3 different shades of purple - so here is some photos.

Lovely work to zepsgal - love the effect it makes.

Skobbie - if my hubby seen this before we were married I could see a subtle hint for one lol - looks so life like.

Might do some more on my purplework part two - thinking of trying to finish it on 31-3-13 - made a start on it.

Well better do a quick check on in the Cafe and FB - have a wee bit of lunch and get ready for hospital.

    Catch up soon

    CALLING ALL KNITTERS
I am relativley new to knitting (as an adult anyway, i used to knit when i was younger) so im learning the ropes, so to speak.

i was given a couple of balls of wool by a neighbour which i have been using to practise with. one ball is quite hard to knit with, it goes very tight and i end up frustrated with it more than anything! the other is a much better wool and i have already made a case for my needles with it.

i have no idea what the wool is called, what sort of wool should i buy? i plan on making a scarf next and want a wool which is both easy to work with and looks nice (i dont have enough left on my ball)! what should i look out for?

also i only have 1 pair of needles, which are a size 5, am i using the right ones? or should i have an assortment? are diffrent sizes better to make different things? or go with different wools?

sorry for all the questions, it was my nanna who originally taught me to knit when i was 5 and sadly, she is no longer with us so i dont really have anyone to go to for advice.

  • skoobie your xbox ring pillow is fantastic
sweetcarer those purple squaares are looking lovely
carlamarie usually on the ball band of wool it tells you what size needles the yarn needs to be knitted on, it sounds to me like the yarn you had difficulty with needed to be knitted on different needles.
there are loads of free patterns on the web, if you google you'll find lots, i would say pop into a wool shop and have a feel of some wool and see what textures appeal to you.
wilkinsons sell basic double knit that tends to be knitted on old size 8 (4mm needles) maybe you could pick up some other sized needles from a charity shop or off freecycle.
