    Hi Lolly

    I think that 60 is the new 35 ;)

While I was walking around the shops the other day I thought to myself 'this place is full of old people'. Then I caught sight of myself in the reflection of a shop window and though again 'yes, and I'm one of them'.:(

I do regret not having this site when younger - maybe I'd have been a lot better off now.

It's Harder to Be Frisky Over Sixty

Inside my shoes and my panty hose
I've painted blue nail polish on my toes,
A skirmish in the war that I wage
Against the constraints of my current age.
    Despite the advent of Medicare,
I will still buy bikini underwear
And scorn the notion that seniorhood
Means it's too late to be up to no good.
    I would if I could.

Don't give me extra time to walk down the jetway.
And please don't get up and give me your seat on the bus.
I'd rather be engagée than Emeritus,
Though it's harder to be frisky over sixty.

I'm not prepared to sign up for Elderhostel.
    Retirement communities? Save your brochures.
I'll keep right on trucking as long as my strength endures,
Though it's harder to be frisky over sixty.

I'm standing firm against the Early Bird Special.
I'm out on the dance floor strutting what's left of my stuff.
I'd rather say never say die than enough is enough,
Though it's harder to be frisky over sixty. I don't intend to stop showing a little cleavage.
Nor do I intend to stop flashing a little thigh.
I'm still not too old to give it the old college try,
Though it's harder to keep trying,
And it's harder to keep trucking,
And it's harder to be frisky over sixty.

Thats brilliant. Thanks for posting it.

Are you doing anything for your birthday?

Thanks, keep them coming. I can see that I will have to take up DIY, gardening and go to the theatre and cinema. This will keep me busy.

Do any of these places ask you to show ID when you ask for a concessionary rate?
The Pension People will send you a small pink ID card stating you are 60+

Enjoy It!.... You will wonder how you ever had time to go to Work

No, I'm definately allergic to parties and any form of attention! Don't like mixing my friends as they are so diverse - my book friends, dog-walking friends, shopping friends, music friends etc etc. I suppose we could have a cyber party on here though - that would be okay.

    Invitation:
    Place: my computer
    Date: March 6th
    Time: all day

    Do they really?!

Don't like pink much, but I'm sure I'll cope!

Do I have to ask for it?

Do you have to provide a photo to go with it and do you still get it if you are not claiming your pension?

Although this thread was started agea ago, it is still applicable. Reference ID. I have recently become 65, yet pass for early 50's, each and every time I make a purchase I ask for discount/concession etc. Many times I get the third degree or at the very least, an unbelieving look. I don't drive so have no license to show, so what is this about an ID card for over 60's ?, thanks in anticipation.

I was told by a friend who worked in pensions that the pink card was issued if you didn't have a pension book/card but had your pension payed into the bank. There is no photo on this card.

You can apply for a bus pass from GM Transport which dies have a photo. This pass is for life. My MIL has had one for 33 years and still uses it. Most drivers don't ask to see it, but it was accepted as proof when I signed up for night classes (also reduced price)

I will also reach sixty this year, during October. Have already received details of my pension. As I work three days a week, most likely I will carry on. My OH already receives the £200 fuel allowance so we won't be due any extra.

Looking forward to receiving my bus pass and free prescriptions might come in handy as well. When I think of my parents in their sixties I feel a lot younger.

    Wishful thinking maybe. ;)
