There are two, free interactive books to help kids learn to read on the Learn Direct website, called "The Journey to Darkest Somewhere” and “The House of Scary Words”.

Plus there are loads more freebies in Freebies Freebies Freebies.

This post was previously about a free book you could receive so older replies to this discussion don't relate to the interactive online books.

  • Hi, I thought this was a good idea have been on website to get info and downloaded the voucher and took it to my nearest Learndirect, unfortunately you need to be on a course to get the book.
  • Hi

Opportunity to claim your free book or even better to create your own storybooks using

    w w w . wheredidtherivergo. co . uk /?CMP=par_ngl

I have had to make add spaces to the web address so don't simply copy and paste - CAN SOMEONE MAKE CLICKY PLEASE! I can't post with weblinks yet!

If you decide to create your own you can, with your little ones sit down and change the names and charactors/animals etc and even drag on the different pictures etc. Great to encourage reading and spelling or even identifying different animals etc. Once created you can print your book out or save it to read anytime or just go through it again and change it anyway you like.

Link is part of the Becta funded Next Generation Learning website, a flagship education website.

    Hope you enjoy!

    Fantastic find thank you.:T:j
  • okay if you have a centre near you, but for me I might as well go to my local bookshop and buy a book, coz it would cost me more in petrol to go and collect the book from the nearest centre.
  • Brilliant, we really enjoyed changing the story to suit my son

    Thanks
  • Just came across this and it's marvelous. :j
Cant wait to show my grandson Callum (6),
