I used a local "Reject Timber Yard" (In Ilkeston) Sixty Lengths of 5 3/4 by 8ft decking and nine lengths of 4 by 2 @ 18ft and 2 lengths @ 15 ft They also have newels @ £5 and spindles (various) @ £1 each. Handrails etc are all available.

He did want £3.20 for each length of decking but I got em for £3 and he has other sizes at £3.60 at the moment.

I'm sure that with a bit of combined shopping I could get him down in price even more ;)

Could you tell me where about the Yard is in Ilkeston please :o

I just did a 5m x 5m, butted to the fence in a corner, with posts and 40mm rope ballustrade, cost £636 for all the gear, and £250 labour, concrete, 4inch posts every 3ft, joists at 400 centres - softwood, took a day, and that included moving the shed for them, and all of its contents!, I am returning tomorrow to put in the led lights around the perimiter of the deck, inset, just 10, and then a step, as its raised 12" from the ground, so probably got half day left. A good tradesman will quote a cple of days for something this size, which equates to roughly 120 per day, which is pretty standard most areas, no labourer. i used a paslode to fix the boards, so its a quick easy job to do really, £50 a sq meter is probably a good benchmark.
