Claiming back overdraft/late payment charges!

Hi guys

I just wondered if anyone here's had any experience of this. My OH is raving at the moment about this thing he's discovered about being entitled to claim back the money that his bank and cc companies have charged him for missing payments or exceeding his overdraft - apparently they can only charge £12 and most of them charge £20-30 a go.
Since he is mounds of debt he has quite a lot of these, and I believe he's found something on Which? website that does a step-by-step to claiming it back with mock up letters and so forth.

Has anyone else tried this, and had any luck? Would be interested to hear.

Thanks
R.

    Hi
I too am trying to reclaim back unfair bank charges.
there are lots of tips on the consumer action group website and there are lots of threads about it on here too.
I am currently discussing my finances with CCCS and they said getting back my charges was a good idea and would certainly help decrease my debts.
Good luck to you and remember we are all here to offer support and experiences.

raven, your OH can't just claim back the charges that were over £12 (or the difference thereof), but ALL charges. £12 was just a stupid OFT recommendation but he can still claim back *everything* charged, the full £20's and £30's

amosworks, that's good to know thanks! I was just wondering that earlier...
Well, in that case, fingers crossed for him as he could do with a lump sum to help the cc situation!
