0800 numbers are free of charge although some networks charge you for making 0800 calls ...if you called from BT landline it would be free

Im sure if you call from any landline it would be free.

  • My father has spoken to Ofcom, apparently this is a good way to get orange to sit up and take note, Ofcom said that not all 0800 are free and you should check this 1st ( somehow).Aside from that dad checked his BT phone bill, he says the 0800 he dialed shows as a 07*** so seems they change it to chargeable??

You can't dial an 0800 number and it show up as an 07 number.

He must have dialled 07 by mistake instead of 08

As Silk says, totally improbable as that can't happen, it's likely he was distracted and just dialled the 07 number.

I just called this number to try and help my elderly father cancel his contract, although eventually i picked an extention number that got answered the lady could not help, it also turns out that this 0800 number is NOT free of charge, the only other number is a mobile one, so- if like dad- they send wrong sim card, you can spend hours phoning costly numbers to sort out a simple problem.

    Is it a phone/sim contract ?

Why not use the number you can call for free, is it 150 or something.
