If you go to the asda website and use the store locator it will give you your local stores phone number so you can call and check if they're open.

I thought all Supermarkets in England & Wales were closed today (except Tesco Express and other small local corner shop/petrol station ones?).

    Is anyone's Supermarket open?

Large shops where the floor area open to customers is 280 square metres are prohibited from opening on Christmas day and Easter day in England and Wales unless exempt. Asda is not exempt.

A friend works for Asda and she is a bit peeved at being laid off without pay today.
  • Today is like christmas day, it is shut.

    Laid off ~ it's a bank holiday that's all!

If she normally works a Sunday then she should get paid for today.

Some store such as B & Q open, as its worth them paying the fine for the amount of money they take on their busiest day of the year.

When I worked at Asda we had to work a different day to make the time up if we wanted paying for easter sunday otherwise it was unpaid.
