  • hi m&s do there own box of porridge oats for 39p ,great value just as good if not better.give it a try
  • Porridge is so much nicer made with medium oatmeal.
    One part meal to three parts water or milk, a little salt, microwave for 5mins.
    Best if you soak it overnight.

    Try it, you will never go back to the oats again.

    I have used Asda smart price & tesco value, both taste the same to me.
    A good cheap healthy breakfast

  • Not used them for porridge, but the Tesco Value ones are great for flapjack!!
    I used to buy the posh oats until someone said the Tesco ones were lovely.
    I make mine with semi skimmed milk in the microwave and then have a sliced babana and berries (defrosted frozen summer fruits from Mr T £1.29 a pack)
    Makes a really tasty, cheap breakfast and keeps me full through till the afternoon.

  • I'm happy with my Tesco's value oats. You can pay more for the jumbo oats, which I don't like for porridge or flapjacks-personal preference

    I like porridge too, especially with fruit. For me it's not only about consistency but also about the sugar content. Some brands can have a whopping 50 % sugar content, especially the flavoured types :eek:
    <Scratches head, confused.>
  • I have been stockpiling Mornflake oats from Farmfoods. Last time I got them they were 2 bags for £1. Just as good as premium brands in my opinion.
