MFI versus Howdens, your thoughts please

I know Howdens don't do the same names of kitchens as they are no longer associated with MFI but have been told they are still the same, just different names.
It is so confusing and much haredr to pick than I thought, thinking about the layout, what wil I have in it etc etc
As before any ideas appreciated.

I have been to MFI today to have my kitchen designed and really was not impressed.
I said I would like some kind of table in the kitchen, all I got was an ah, don't know if you could do that. he never showed me any choice of cupboards, drawers or any of the things in the space cream design, ie the silver roll things, glass cabinets. hw just said what do you want where.
I told him I wanted some ideas, help and inspiration of using the space I have best, he gave me no ideas.
I don't really like the design he has done, there are no nice touches, just the basic stuff with integrated appliances.
The cost even thought it says 50% off and an extra 20% off was 7500 including appliances or 4500 without them, all without fitting. I thought this was overpriced for what I have put in it.
I don't have to go to Howdens, just that my friends fella can get a discount from them but so far with the experience of MFI I don't really have any confidence in them.

Iv'e copied the posts from the thread re MFI kitchens into this so any other ideas or advice greatly appreciated. I really need to start ordering my kitchen but all getting a little confusing.
Some greta advice has been given but now in a quandry about the cream from Howdens as it is a bit different as posted below.

My quote from MFI was 7500 yesterday which was nothing special and I have now changed the design, the guy wasn't very helpful.
I have been looking at the Glendoven cream in the Howdens brochure and it looks like the side panels are different to the MFI ones, is this correct as I would like them the same as MFI.
I too will have to look at getting the pan drawers from MFI as I really want them.
I also want to get the small dot plinth lighting but don't know if this would be on the cream or solid wood plinth.
£1900 still seems alot for 6 units and a sink or have I yet to realise just how expensive it is to have a new kitchen?
Any ideas/advice welcome.

We experianced the same thing with MFI first time around as well, when the guy quoted us £7400.00 he was not at al interested in lowring the price to close the deal.

Sorry my mistake in the end we actually brought 8 units in total which was

2 tall tambour wall units
2 half height glass wall units
2 half height wall units
2 1000cm pan draws

these howdens do not sell.

The side panels are the same in Howdens as MFI, with a gloss finish.

I think you can put the plinth lights in an type of plinths, we brought the stainless steel plinths from howdens, they were £94.00, in MFI they were £495.00 and are identical.

We will be buying the plinth lights from B&Q an again they are for the fraction of the price of MFI.

I'm currently waiting for a quote from Howdens for what was originally the Cream Glendevon.

Anyway now I've changed my mind to White Glendevon because according to the pictures on the howdens website and also those in the catalogue there's a difference between the MFI Cream space and the Howdens Cream Glendevon, namely the cornice around the top and bottom of the wall units has a round profile and is not the flush square edge as I've seen in MFI and its brochure. I phoned the designer today and he confirmed this so I'm going for white which seems the same as the MFI units.

What are the tall tambour wall units, when I go on the MFI website it says it is unable to show me images. Why did you go with their half height wall units, do Howdens not do them, is this the ones that you pull up instead of open to the side, if so I want a couple of these do and definatley some of the pan drawers, i just wish they were that big with three drawers like my friend has (different kitchen) so she can put her utensils in the top small but long drawer.

Soz for seeming a little stupies, I am looking in the Howdens brochure at the cram and can not see the differance between that and the white. Do you mean that the edging on the top goes over a little rather than being flush.
I think I now see what you mean and can now see the differance.
Now I haven't a clue what to do as I wanted cream and not white but I too want the clear defined edges.
What to do now?
