Dementia - need a clock and calendar

Thanks for the inspiration: I don't think the in-laws have any clocks which automatically reset when the clocks change, and it might help MIL keep FIL on track with what day of the week it is!Signature removed for peace of mind0

My problem is that my relative cannot have too much information presented too close together - most bedside or digital desk clocks that also have the date in numbers actually make the display impossible for her to interpret.
That's why I've now decided to stick with a simple time only display and then get a separate calendar - still looking for the right automatic calendar though.:hello:0 -
I know this is on a bit of a tangent to the original question about clocks but I guessed that people reading this would be caring for or know someone with dementia (my mum has alzheimers).
I found a very useful site last year and bought a dementia jigsaw (my mum used to love her jigsaws!). It's been really useful when people come round as it helps her to interact with them and provides some mental stimulation.
The website is active-minds.co.uk (sorry, I can't post links as I'm a newbie!!)
I hope this helps people, especially as they make great christmas presents!0 -
You're right, it's tricky, most digital clocks seem to include much more than just the time. This one would be ideal but it's £80 http://www.lazyboneuk.com/products/Big-Time-Digital-Wall-Clock.html
Doing a Google image search for 'led wall clock' brings up a lot of examples, but the tricky thing then is finding where they are sold and how much they are. For example, this one, which looks good but is $90 on a US website.0 -
Asda do an own-brand alarm clock with red LEDs that would be fit-for-purpose for the OP. IIRC it's under a tenner and available in any of the larger stores.PLEASE NOTE:

Although I don't think this is appropriate just yet, it might be something to consider for the future.

Just a thought... an elderly relative has dementia and due to social services assistance they actually provided a clock for this very use... Have you been in contact with your local Social Services to see what they can supply etc? Ie might need poss adaptions to assist with safety elements of dementia0
