How do you rate your home phone and broadband providers?

We can tell you who the cheapest providers are, but to find out if their service is any good, we need your help.

Twice a year, we ask you to tell us about your customer service experience - ignoring price - with your current home phone and fixed broadband providers. Please vote below, with your service rating over the past SIX MONTHS.

For each of the following providers, you can vote Good, OK or Poor:

24Talk
AAISP
AOL
Aquiss
Auracall
Be
BT
Demon
Direct Save Telecom
Eclipse
Fast
Firefly
IDNET
John Lewis (formerly Greenbee/Waitrose)
Karoo (Kingston Communications)
KC Talk (Kingston Communications)
Madasafish
O2
Orange
Pipex (now TalkTalk)
Plusnet
Post Office
Primus
Sky
Smallworld
Southern Electric
TalkTalk (incl Onetel, Freedom2Surf & Bulldog)
Tesco
The Phone Co-op
Tiscali (now TalkTalk)
Utility Warehouse
Virgin Media (cable)
Virgin National (non-cable)
Vodafone At Home
YourCalls.net
Zen

Do you get phone and broadband from the same provider? Pick the same company for each.

Is your provider not listed? Suggest others in the thread below.

NOTE: This poll is on consumer home phone and broadband providers, and not business providers.

Thanks,
MSE Becca

Sky-bad....I left them so couldn't vote poor. If my supplier was poor I would leave so I've had to mark BT as good and plus.net as good as the problems I have had have been resolved.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Can you adjust the option for ADSL24, they do offer home phones.

I changed from BT to Plusnet for both phone & broadband earlier this year, to save money & increased download limit.

The service for both is very good.... now.
However, the changeover for broadband took 4 weeks to finally provide a working service, with each company blaming the other (inc. BT Wholesale / Openreach). My broadband service was then "ceased" 4 months later, to be "reactivated" 10 days later, due to BT Wholesale... allegedly.
You would have thought BT to Plusnet would be a fairly straightforward change since they are the same company!

Phone and broadband where we are landlords and paying the bills was taken over by Virgin Media probably due to them getting the wrong address. A completely unknown name. After five weeks of BT trying to get it back (we didn't want to have to pay £180 as still in contract) we are still waiting. the first time the BT engineer came out (after an apparently industry standard 3 weeks he was unable to complete the switch as still with VM - no apology or compensation from VM and as it is not in our name apparently unlikely to be able to use Alternative Dispute R (whatever!!). Will be dropping them (Virgin) at our own home once out of contract - and they have just informed us they are putting up prices.
  • Utility Warehouse - terrible for both home phone & broadband.
Broadband loss of service and very slow. Home phone is crackling and quiet line!

Gone back to Virgin Media - perfect! Cant fault it! Super fast broadband and great home phone!

BT phone is ok for us. Rarely pay BT call charges because we use a prefix for most calls.

Plusnet broadband ok at ~4Mbps (up to 16Mbps advertised). Occasionally drops out for a few minutes without warning but more than adequate for browsing & emails (no gaming or film downloads needed).
