Royal Mail fee2pay in parcel - online RM problem!

I have just received a Royal Mail card through the door, saying unfortunately they can't deliver my item because there is a fee to pay of £2.95. This must be an Ebay parcel, as I am not expecting anything else.

So.... I followed the instructions on the cards, and went to the website listed - royalmail.com/redelivery/fee2pay - and filled in all the questions they asked on the form. Then I chose which date for redelivery.... and it accepted it all and told me it would be redelievred on Thursday.

Trouble is, at no point did it ask me for any money or give me the option to enter the amount due!

So what happens now? Do I get my parcel or what?

Or do I have to do something else..?...?

???

I thought they couldn't collect money on the doorstep now though?

If they could do this, then why not just deliver the parcel today and ask me for the money at the time, instead of putting a card through the door...

It makes no sense to me.

    they wont collect money
if the fee2pay site says its paid then i would wait and see if it comes on thursday
the fee2pay payment details go to the delivery office for action in the same system as the redelivery requests
so it may get actioned regardless of payment
if not just make the payment again

That sounds like a plan, thank you.

Have you retired by the way, Custardy? I notice you now have in your signature 'ex postie'?

I'm pleased to hear that - both that you are nowhere near retirement, and that you have found new grass to be put out to (if you see what I mean!)

    :D

Hope all is going great with you, I have always found your posts to be extremely helpful.
