The detox diet recipes are vegan (apart from honey), wheat-free, restricted potato, caffeine free, soya free . . . so looking at your list, there'll probably be lots there you can use.

Off the top of my head, you could try googling for detox diet recipes?

The McDougall diet has a lot of followers, so there should be plenty of recipes available online. It's a vegan, low-fat diet. Here's some recipes to get you started: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/4195/page4.htm

Dove's Farm do lots of wheat-free flours. You can get 'egg-replacers' such as Orgran 'No-Egg' and Ener-G Egg Replacer to use in baking (the latter is best and can be used for quiche and such like, but more expensive), but you'd have to check that they don't contain any other ingredients you're eliminating.

Try www.goodnessdirect.com Free delivery over £30, and the products are clearly labelled for allergies, special diets, etc. They have excellent customer service, and the staff are friendly if you phone up for more info.
Thanks ever so much for that bluemoon, I hadn't thought of the detox thing, which I guess it's very similar to.

That goodnessdirect site looks interesting, will give it a better look when I've got more money.

are you able to have fruit sugar?
lots of recipes at the fruisana site.

    porridge feast

slice a banana in frying pan
add sprinkle of seeds ( I use Shelled Hemp, sunflower, + pumpkin)
    1 measure of oats
2 measures of milk - or alternative
    1 measure water
    ground cinnamon

    cook slowly.
I have it with big blob of live yog.

it's also lovely cooked with apples, prunes, dates. the trick is to cook the oats with the fruit to release their sweetness.

    enjoy !

Cheers for that blue-kat, and yes can have fruit sugar, for some weird reason Beet sugar showed positive yet Cane sugar didn't!! And your porridge sounds the best tasting one I've seen! icon12.gif

savvy, further to my last post, I was having a look through my Carol Vorderman book - quite a lot of the recipes do contain tomato. When I get a chance, I'll see if I can type up a couple of the other recipes.

I have a lovely DIP recipe for you, very SIMPLE and delicious for anyone.
    1 jar roasted peppers (Lidl)
1 block feta cheese (Ewes milk)
    1 clove garlic
    1 red chilli
    olive oil
Blitz everything in a blender and serve with crudites or ryvita.

It is simply delicious. Good luck and hope you feel better very soon.
Hi smartiepants, I really fancied this tonight so I went into Lidl and got the peppers, went over to get some feta cheese and lo and behold Godders' research was right! Apparently a lot of feta is now made from cows milk, luckily I'm in the habit of reading food labels and saw it before I bought it! Typical eh?

Thanks Galtizz, that's an excellent site, will be useful after this is all over too!! icon7.gificon14.gif

For cheese I'd recommend a specialist place - either a cheese shop or a french shop or something like that as they really know their cheeses (in my experience) and can offer suggestions for cheese you may not know about.

ie I didn't know that Roquefort is not made from cows milk, and giving up cheese was one of the hardest things I had to do as I love strong tasting blue cheese! lo and behold a wonderful frenchman told me!!!

  • I'm quite partial to raw carrots and while the weather is warm raw celery.

Can't say that I'd like it for every meal though.

Perhaps you could liven up by blitzing in the food processor and adding a few fingers of Stolichnaya.

If you're really stuck for ideas, you could try fasting.
Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.

This is about to become an issue for us as DS is going to go through the elimination diet process. Being 9, he's going to have 6 weeks free of a few foods, one at a time for 6 wks at a time.
I'm waiting for an appt with a dietician/nutritionalist, because I want help with each elimination as to what I can feed him breakfast lunch tea supper and snacks, for 6 wks at a time. Otherwise, we'd end up on carrots and water!!

Good luck, Savvy, and I'll be looking back in on this thread soon!
