sorry this is a bit of venting as well as a plea for help
Don't you just hate this part of an application form....I am applying for a local govt job with an 8 page job information pack the 'main tasks' of the job run to 2 pages  its awful and i am stuck at this bit and can never think of anything other than i am great employ me!!
Does anybody have any ideas/stuff that works for them at this part of the application form? anyone from HR with any ideas either?

just pick out all the requirements of the job, and one by one, translate them into things that you have already done
They dont want waffle - for eg. i work in the motor industry, you would be suprised how many people think that watching F1, means they would be great as a parts delivery driver. no mention of the fact they have a clean licence, and good local knowlege
they are telling you in the tasks what they need you to do, now you just have to detail how you have experience in these tasks

This is the best bit! The one that gets you the interview.
I underline key words in the bumf and make notes on how my experience/ qualifications match these. Then I start writing the statement mentioning all of these.
I always put 'thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I look forward to hearing from you' at the end. It seems to work!0 -

and definitely save it for in case there's a next time....you should only need to go through the first agony once...after that, each application can be a specialised revision with extra bits added on etc.....
just give them every reason to give you the interview (maximise your apparent suitability....)
good luck and don't leave it until the last minute! For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070
