Travel Insurance for Specific Conditions

Hi everyone! Just a quick question, I hope people can help me. I'm trying to find cheap travel insurance but have a pre-existing medical condition (epilepsy) which requires constant medication. Which travel insurance companies are likely to be the best? Price comparison engines are no use as they don't work with these types of things.0

Tried a bit of googling and first up was Epilepsy Action who say they can arrange specially tailored travel insurance with no premium loading for epileptics
Best of luck and enjoy your trip !0 -
Try
http://www.ch-facilities.co.uk/
I have several existing conditions including 2 strokes, high blood pressure and (cured) skin cancer, and they have always found me cover at reasonable cost.
We have just bought another policy from them to cover both of us for a week in Gran Canaria. It was only for £35 for both of us. The travel agent wanted more than that just for my husband and I was refused cover because of my health.Cheers

Where can I get disabled person travel insurance, won't the usual insurance companies raise their premiums?0
-
Often this does not cost too much more than normal but don't try travel agents or a standard website.
First port of call should be any national charities for the disability involved or fairly similar disabilies.Try their websites for details of their recommended insurance schemes or ring them.
ABI may be able to give you a list of suitable providers.ring them on 020.7600.3333.
A specialist firm covering many disabilities is ch-facilities.co.uk.
Of the travel insurers listed on this forum under "provider a-z" on the left hand side bar Marks & Spencers should be able to help you.
Finally try the "holidaytruths.co.uk" site and look in the "General Tips on Travel" forum where there is a listing of companies covering recommendations for disabled travellers or people with medical conditions.
Hope this helps but if you still need advice please mention age/type of disability/length of trip and destinations.
Best of luck and hope you all enjoy the trip.

My wife is 60 and I am 61. In December 2003 she underwent a mastectomy and therefore the travel insurance we took out did not cover any claim arising from this condition. However, her surgeon advised her that the operation had been a complete success and she did not need any further treatment(other than a yearly check up) such as radio or chemotherapy and she did not need to take any drugs such as Tamoxifen. This year we want to take out annual travel insurance but as soon as you mention the C word, either they don't want to now or the premium is sky high. Does anyone know of an insurance company that would take this risk ( which is not very high) on?0

Hi there
The following ought to be able to help you :-
Marks & Spencers via the travel insurance link under Providers A-Z on the left of this site
cancerhelp.org.uk - in the travel insurance section they list quite a few companies who are not afraid of conditions or ailments beginning with C.Be prepared with all the medical background and to telephone them rather than arranging it on line.
Hope this helps

I have just been diagnosed with high blood pressure.Obviously I need to tell my travel insurance company...and obviously... they will increase my premiums.
Can anyone give me the lowdown on this ? Is it better to insure for each holiday and not annually? At present my wife and I have a joint annual policy, would we be better to insure seperately in the future? I would be interested to hear anyones experience on this before I start talking to the insurers.....any recommendations for insurers?Nice to save.0 -
Try Marks & Spencers.See the link in the Providers A-Z on the left panel on this site. They are meant to be flexible and reasonable for medical conditions.I would certainly suggest you both insure with the same company.
Enjoy your holiday !0
