Years gone by, I used to use Uhu glue.
It seemed to do very well and it could be removed later from something like glass.

Great spot, Cinders & thanks for updating - I'll suggest this for the jar tombola stall so we can get the school name & the fete date standardised. Helps discourage the same jars circulating!0

if you sign up to avery labels.com you can usually request free samples to then try out on different containers for the best 'stickiness'.0
