Potato growing - in sun or shade?

What's the best location for growing potatoes? Sunny or shade?

Thanks!

Doesn't hurt to have a bit of both full sun would be ok as long as they were well watered but don't think you would get such good crop if they were in full shade all day long...

Practically all vegetable crops prefer either full sun all day or at least most of it. There's very few crops that would thrive in mostly shade. For potatoes an absolute minimum would be 2/3rd of the day in sun, or at least not in shade. Potatoes need a lot of energy to bulk up sucessfully and that means good light.

They are prone to rotting diseases and although I haven't worked for any potato organisations, I'm guessing that growing them in the shade wouldn't help that side of it :)
