How to remove green algae off shed

Hi,

its that time of year when I'mm looking to restain the fence but the lower panels have a green algae on them. Naturally I cannot restain without treating this first or it won't adhere properly.

I see that a cleaner is availabale in B&Q that does the job but at £3.98 a litre it seem very expensive.

Does anyone know of an alternative treatment??

    I just used warm water with washing up liquid and a little bleach in and it worked OK. Don't get bleach near any plants though.

    Hiya, I'd have a go with the diluted bleach that's been recommended in other threads for cleaning the patio. Alternatively, washing soda (56p ish in the supermarkets) in a strong solution is pretty good with mould - don't see ahy it shouldn't be as effective with a scrubbing brush. Might just require a bit more elbow grease than the expensive stuff...

    Pressure washer.... no chemicals needed, just blast it off.....

    Fill your washing up bowl with some hot water and BIOLOGICAL washing powder take it to your shed, dunk the end of your yard broom in the bowl and scrub the green algae off.

    I have the same problem with a shed that we moved to a different part of the garden which means the algae is exposed where it wasnt before.

    Queenies solution sounds the best to me, means I dont have to go out and buy anything special. I think washing up liquid and bleach would do it too.
