BTW they actually let us carry on a pillow as well as the roll along because we saw a couple of girls get away with this on a previous trip. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
No you can not. We have traveled with them 3 times now from EMA and they are very hot on the gate about the one bag rule. They will make you put whatever you have in addition to your cabin bag (handbag, duty free, etc.) into it before you reach the dreaded "cage", it had better fit in or you ain't flying with it in the cabin.

However, we flew from EMA on 4th July this year to Tallinn in Estonia. Husband went to buy a newspaper (airside) and I was amazed (and annoyed) when he came back with an 8p rather large carrier bag. Was about to launch into him when he showed me the notice outside WH Smith saying that these bags were allowed in addition to cabin luggage on Ryanair. We went through (me with everything crossed) without any problems. There were also people with Boots carrier bags that had the same deal.
Now, this (as far as I know) was only applicable from EMA and I don't even know whether the offer is still on, but July 4th wasn't long ago!

You usually find that people who have trouble with RA bring it on themselves by not reading the T&Cs, which they said, by ticking the T&Cs box, they had.
RA are running a business not a nursery.0
