help my employer messing me around

Can anyone help ive tried everything and got nowhere i got radial tunnel syndrome and went off sick for 5 months and then returned to work on modified duties. When i went back to work i was sent to see the company specialist who told me that i couldnt do my job but i could do another job inside the company subject to a few conditions. I kept asking about this other job and just got messed around all the time and fobed off. I was back in work for 4 months when my specialist sent me to have the operation for radial tunnel and i was off work for a further 5 weeks. When i returned i was sent to see the company doctor and they said that they where going to write for my medical reports and letters of the doctor and specialist and it will take a month for them now its been a month and a half and i phoned the company doctor up and they said that they have received the letter from my specialist but are awaiting for the letter of my doctor. They told me that the specialist had said in the letter that i couldnt use vibratory tools anymore, which means that i can not do my job but could do the other job inside the company. Everytime i ask the union for help they just fob me off and are not interested what can i do help please. I am still on modified duties but i dont know if i will have a job.

    What do you expect them to do?

    If they gave you a job that even remotely caused you to have pain you would take them to the cleaners, so they are quite rightly doing everything by the book.

    but this other job is totaly different and it wouldnt cause me to have the pain that i was previously in. They have told me that i could have this other job and then keep messing me about

    Your employer should consider making reasonable ajustments - they appear to have done this.
    They should also consult with yourself and occupational health to find a way to progress, again the appear to have done this. Have they risk assesed the jobs they are giving you? What have you asked your union to do that they haven't done?

    cheers for the replys. The union wont get involved unless they sack me or put me on the sick and work are not interested in speaking to me about whats going to happen they have been saying for 7 months that i will be having a test to see if i can go on the other job but they keep saying this month ever month for 7 months now.

    When you say the union wont get involved, is this one steward that is reluctant to assist? Have you contacted the branch to ask for an explanation for their lack of response?

    Ask him to clarify the situation as to why he appears unable to offer assistance.As a point of interest what union do you belong to.
