In my experience, on silicon type sealant once mold sets in, you're facing a losing battle. My advice would be to cut it all out with a Stanley knife & re-seal it. Half hour job to remove the sealant, £8 for a new tube of it. It isn't difficult, honest!
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
  • Had a go at the site you mentioned arkonite_babe but it didn't work - so it looks like I've to follow bunking_off's plan!

    Thanks for the help!

hells bells! mother in law comming for first time in 3 yrs tonite - can't get rid of the horrible black mould round some of the shower tray sealant. heard somewhere that bicarb does the trick, but pasted some on last night and it still hasn't come off today.

    any hints greatfully appreciated!

Yeah, on tile grout you can use a paste of bicarb and vinegar - but the rubber sealants - most people have said that replacing it is the only real option.

edit: You could try asking on the In my Home forum because someone there might know of something.

It's not OS but I find that Mould & Mildew Remover works a treat on mine. I think it's made by Dettol (or it could be toilet Duck, not sure). Fab stuff though, spray it on and leave for about 30 mins then shower it off. hey presto clean shower.
Like I say, not very old style, but it does work.
    HTH !!
