statatory Redundancy Pay, how long does it take?

I appreciate this is a commonly asked question and everybodys situation can be different.
But Im desperately trying to establish a time frame on how long its going to take for me to recieve my statatory redundancy payout.
I was made redundant in Mid May, after 9 years. I was given no notice, and im owed pay. The company went into liquidation and a liquidation specialist has dealt with the forms after i had filled it in (p50?)...the company officially went into liquidation on the 1st June.
It is now Mid July and i have not heard anything from anybody....
If people could give examples of how there own situation panned out, if indeed its in anyway similar to mine that would be great....
for the record my notice period has ended 12/7/12.

If people could say how long it took them to receieve the statatory payout that would great.....
And also is there a number to call to speak to somebody regarding this?

Hi, I found this on this website, it might help:
To apply for Statutory Redundancy Pay, you'll need to contact an Insolvency Practitioner or call 0845 015 0010 to request a copy of a RP1 form (see the Insolvency Service website for more details) and send it back to the practitioner dealing with your company's insolvency. [B]It usually takes about three to six weeks for you to receive your payment.

If you've doubts about the way your employer may have calculated your statutory redundancy pay call the Redundancy Payments Helpline on 0845 1450 004.

Ok thanks Pam1, its an awkward one, as i was actually made redundant in mid may, but the company wasnt made insolvent until the 1st of june.
the forms were sent off to the dept of employment on the 1st of june, after i filled in the (p50?)....
the liquidator guy did warn us this could take a few weeks, however the thing that alarms me is that i have heard NOTHING from anybody, no letter, email.....ive a good idea what im supposed to be recieving, though no doubt the government will try and cut corners where they can, but we'll see.

Im just trying to establish an average if you like, kind of time scale on how long people have had to wait for statatory redundancy and how the process worked for them.

By no means an expert, but I have read people waiting 9 - 10 weeks - theres a lot of insolvemcy going on. Can you not phone the RPS and ask them?

"RPS"?....I recall the liquidation guy, saying something about our forms been sent off to edinburgh and then possibly been forwarded on to Birmingham (both dept of employment offices) and ive just found there numbers online, though what help they are remains to be seen.
It just seems odd and worrying that i have not heard or received a single thing (or penny!)......
I guess the wait goes on, but the more people that reply with there experiences the more of an idea i have on how long its going to be.

P.S....does anybody know how it all happens?....ie do i go to the cash machine one day and get a nice surprise?......do they send a cheque?
im completely in the dark.....not good.

I understand your frustration, but the government will not cut corners, you will get exactly what you are entitled to.

Have you signed on and are reciveing job seekers allowance and any other benefits you are entitled to.

Well thats re assuring to hear 'Mckneff', its just frustrating waiting for what should be a large some of money....and not knowing for sure whether its what my calculator keeps coming up with and having any idea when its gonna arrive.
My notice period ended yesterday and that must have some significance (though a former colleagues would have ended last week and hes recieved nothing either)
its not neccessarily the fact ive recieved no money, its the not knowing when......
And no im not claiming JSA purely because i dont want it to have a negative impact on other benefits we recieve in this household.....and with respect, after having a fairly good job for nearly 10yrs, i dont want to be treated like some 18yr old kid who claims his jsa and plays videogames all day....but thats my choice.

suffice to say i hope its sooner than the 9 or 10 weeks somebody mentioned earlier.....

You do know that your JSA will be deducted from the amount whether you claim it or not?

You are entitled to JSA, no reason why you should think you are going to be treated like an 18 year old.
My 22 year old grand son is in the JC everyday looking and is desperate for work. Your generalisation re video games is uncalled for.

As Marybelle says, it will be deducted anyway.

Its important that you sign on, if you are in need of benefits in a couple or 3 years time, you wont have enough NI credits to be able to claim, the credits also go towards your state pension.

If you post details here about length of service and your age, someone will actually work out for you what you are entitled to, you can then compare it with the figures you have come up with.

In the mean time

1 weeks redundancy pay for each Full year of employment capped at £430 up to the age of 41 years of age. 1.5 weeks pay for any full years over the age of 41

1 weeks notice pay for each full year of employment.

Any accrued holiday pay not taken.

Yes, thanks. I was aware of that....and initially it totally baffled me that they could do this regardless of whether you claimed or not....but I guess i understand why....but the length of service means that my payout should be quite a substantial one....and when i was told i would get notice pay it was also a surprise....so something was always going to be better than nothing.
