Thank you - I feel as though i should embrace this asap but didnt know whether this would affect my ability to try and claim back more of the high interest they have been charging me - Im ashamed to say they were charging me that amount for 18 months before I realised that you could complain. All i did previous to this was speak to payplan and i got the response of we cant make your creditors freeze or reduce interest we can just write and request that they
do. I hope if i get passed to recoveries I can still complain to the fos about the interst they were charging me in the first year of dmp? I feel the fact they have reimbursed the interest for the past 6 months is a good start? I think i will take the chance and get passed to recoveries while still pursung the complaint with the fos about the level of interest they were charging over the past 18 months? Hi all,

Need a bit of advice if possible. To update you all I am at the early stages of managing the DMP process myself, writing all letters, fielding calls, etc and all the fun that goes with that!

Everyone I have spoken to so far has been reasonable bordering on flexible, bearing in mind i am not using a DMP company and trying to resolve the issues myself.

One of the credit cards we owe on is barclaycard and today I received 2 letters from them. From different offices.
The first letter from leicester offices stating we have to contact them by 5th feb with the contact name of our debt advisor ( guess that would be me then!?) and in the meantime they have suspended fee's / interest.
The second letter ( from Northampton office) stating that they are happy to accept our £1 per month offer and they will suspend interest / charges but collections action will continue and they want us to contact them before the 4th Feb.

All a bit confusing really. We genuinely cant afford much more than the £1 per month so who do we reply to and how do we avoid the collections action?

Any advice welcome

Don't worry about it. I cut ours up and binned them. Just tell them so. Also think about the worst they can do to you BR -a default on your credit details which will stop you getting credit - that's it. If they tried to take you to court when you've got a DMP in place they'd be told off by the magistrates for wasting their time. Your biggest/only worry is having money for food/petrol until the end of the month. Take a deep breath, put a smile on your face (it releases endorphins that make you feel better after a while) and get on with your life.

These banks won't have sleepless nights over the money they are owed - we're all just a small blip in their bonuses - just think the boss may only get half a million pounds bonus instead of a million - all because of us - makes you proud really doesn't it? :rotfl::j

Embarrassed cough: I can't find my number - perhaps I never asked to join - but I thought I had - Please may I join?

Remember all that if a creditor keeps on ringing you then it is harassment. One man took a creditor to court last year for keep on ringing and not only got his amount owing wiped but a sizeable chunk of money awarded to him.

Im in the middle of setting up my DMP with Payplan and quite looking forward to it as to be honest.

Ive been in debt for the last 18 months+ and wasn't to bothered about it as I had convinced my self it wasn't that bad and I could clear in pretty quick if i needed to. Well for the last 3 months I haven't even been able to afford the minimum payments and and struggling beyond my imagination.

I haven't eaten in over 24 hours, have no idea how im going to afford anything for the next 2 weeks until pay day though im lucky all my important bills have been paid other than my rent which im working on

Todays has been a BAD BAD day.

yes, we have the 'end of the month' worry which will immediately get replaced with 'MOT & repairs' worry. Mr BR has spoken with the CCCS though, who say that if we need money for repairs (we will) then they should be able to help.
