Hi everyone, my OH and I have just booked to go to Vegas in May this year to get married, we will be on a tight budget so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My OH is in the Armed Forces, does anyone know if many places offer discounts to British Military?

    Hi

My husband is armed forces and he would ask if they did military discount and just show his ID card in places from shopping, dining, entertainment etc. Some places would say no but quite a few would say yes. Even if its just 10% here and there it's still better than nothing

Hope you have a great time

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for the great thread so far, I've picked up lots of good advice ready for our honeymoon in May when we're spending 3 nights in Las Vegas :j.

I'm looking to book a show for our last night in LV. However, a lot of the 'better' shows like CDS are not running on that night (a Tuesday - 15th May 2012).

Our plan is currently as follows:

Sunday 13th - Arrive from Chicago at 5pm, check-in to The Signature @ MGM Grand and then explore the strip/casinos

Monday 14th - Grand Adventures Tours trip to the Grand Canyon (looks excellent on Trip Advisor), 15 hour sunset tour starting at 7.30am and finishing later in the evening.

Tuesday 15th - Recover from the Grand Canyon. Show in the evening, not yet planned anything else for the day.

Wednesday 16th - Flight to SF at midday.

I've picked out Carrot Top as the Luxor, seems to be good value (lots of 2 for 1 offers when in LV but may book prior to then) but is it any good?

It seems to have good reviews on TA: http://www.tripadvisor.in/Attraction_Review-g45963-d662769-Reviews-Carrot_Top-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html

Otherwise I was thinking of the Mac King Comedy Show.

Thoughts on both, or any other suggestions? The Jersey Boys will be at Paris by then although tickets are $$$!

    :o

Which CDS show? I assume they are not all dark that night? :) Or maybe there's something weird with that night...

We loved Carrot Top - regularly available at Tix4Tonight...probably a better show if you have some familiarity with American TV/movies/etc...but we loved him

Also loved Mac King and since it's an afternoon show, doesn't eat up an evening. Assume you know you can pick up a coupon for a 'free' show - with purchase of drink (about $10).

It looks like 'O' and 'Mysterie' are both dark, and those were the only ones that really interest my other half. Not so bothered about the Beatles LOVE.

I quite like America TV, movies, etc so it's certainly a consideration. Is he as funny as the reviews make out? It seems very good value for the price compared to other shows ($40 or so on Travelzoo).

I have heard about the 'free' show with a drink but don't know the details. Think I'll investigate that :)

we were in tears at Carrot Top...my hubby didn't really want to go, and I hate Carrot Top in the commercials he did in the US in the 90...but we thought he was hilarious, if not a rather odd looking fella.

You can usually get the free ticket voucher for Mac King around Harrah's - there's previously been one in the voucher books like the Las Vegas Advisor Member Rewards book and the American Casino Guide but I haven't looked too closely at the lists for 2012...seems like the vouchers may also have been in the free magazines you can pick up around town, but not sure.

We've seen Carrot Top twice and found him funny, hubby more so than me as he watches a lot of American TV. I had avoided comedians in Vegas for a few years as I usually don't "get" American humour, but we did find the show very funny.

The reason it is a lot cheaper than some of the other shows is that the other shows are big production numbers with huge sets and casts.

Don't go paying extra for seats nearer the stage. There are only 13 rows in the theatre so not a bad seat in the house.

I had been going to Vegas for years before going to a Cirque show as I thought they wouldnt interst me.

Went to see KA a couple of years ago and it was fantastic, the stage itself was impressive, saw LOVE last year was also good especially if you like beatles music but because KA has a storyline that won it for me

THE show that is talk of the town at the mo is Absinthe
