I have just been awarded the Lower Rate Care Allowance for myself for DLA. I am never been in the benefits system before so am confused at what else I will be entitled to claim now. I have 2 school age children so receive the minimum amount of CTC.

Are you claiming Income Support? If so, you are now eligible for the disability premium which is backdated to the award of DLA. It may also increase your award of HB. You should contact Tax Credits as well as there has been a change in your income.

Think you might be able to claim the warm front grant. Have added a link.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for all your prompt replies. I work 18 hours per week and own my own home. ( well the bank does at least!!!!) I would not qualify for Income Support as hubby earns too. Phoned the Tax credits today though and that will double which is great.

Hmm interesting, I will have to look into that one. Not sure where you live and how fit and active you are, but I went swimming yesterdays as it is one of the few activities I can still manage. I have rheumatoid arthritis.

Doncaster Council offer a leisure card to DLA, income support, wtc, JSA etc , which offers them half price swimming, gym etc. So it may be worth looking at.

Have you checked https://www.entitledto.co.uk website? Do remember that DLA is NOT means tested. Also CAB will help advise you if you are unable to work.

This gives advice on what an award of DLA may also entitle you to:
