Inherited Shares: Sell through Equiniti or Transfer to HL?
Hi all. I've inherited a small number of shares, and am seeking advice from the knowledgeable folk on here as to how to sell these. They've been transferred into my name by Equiniti, and are currently sat there. I've got a small HL Share trading account that I started to play with a couple of years ago. Are there any other…

Venture Capital Trust (VCT), how to buy?
I am considering buying a Venture Capital Trust (VCT). I would like to invest between £20,000 and £50,000. The objective is to obtain a 30% income tax relief for the 2023/2024 tax year. Given that there are three weeks left until the end of the tax year, is it too late to buy a VCT? Could someone recommend a good platform…

Dumping IFA portfolio to go DIY
I have casually lurked on this forum for quite a while but never felt I had a need to ask anything..but now I think I have. Been with an IFA for 7 years and in that time a largely Dimensional fund dominated pf on the Nucleus platform has evolved into what I’ll post below. All our equity pf is now within ISA wrappers and…

NatWest investments team APS ISA transfer from an external S&S provider
I considered posting this in the death and probate forum but thought it might be better placed here. I'm hoping
someone has had a similar experience or knows what I can do to get this matter
resolved. I have had
a NatWest S&S ISA for several years. My understanding is that their investment arm in managed by Coutts. My late…

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top EA discussion' thread. The aim is to maintain an easy-to-find ranked list of the c.Top 10 available to open & manage online Easy Access accounts, with links. The purpose of this thread is to ONLY…

Prufund - CGT ?
I am helping an 85 year old in our village who wants to tidy up his financial affairs. He seems to want to put all his eggs in one basket (Halifax bank). Yes, I know that one shouldn't put more than £85k in any one company. I have come across a Prufund investment which I think is a Life policy and probably dates back to…

MBNA 1 year fixed rate savings account
So, just opened myself one of these at 5.27% for one year and was a bit surprised to see the account can only be managed by phone. No way of seeing your balance online and for some reason I'm reluctant to use it now. Seems irrational as the balance won't change until the interest is added after the 12 months but there is…

Tax on interest income
Hello. I want to ask here as it's full of knowledgeable people and having checked HMRC website and internet in general, I couldn't find the answer. I know that interest income tax free allowance is £500 for higher tax rate payers. However, is that being established on the gross income of an individual or rather their…

YBS Savings Accounts
Anyone know/understand why YBS let you get accounts but stop you from depositing until they complete checks? (Even if you already with them?). Like applied for a 5.75% one earlier, shows account details in app. Trying to get my head around why they would give me the account if they need to do checks.

Notice Accounts
I can't see any dedicated thread for Notice Accounts, so here we go. S&S ISA 24/25 plans
Sorry about the wall of text in advance. I suppose there some quite a few people having plans (vague or otherwise) on how to invest for the next financial year so I thought I create this to outline mine and brainstorm some ideas with the community here. When circumstances allow, I try to max out my ISA allowances (SS +…

A question about investments and charges
Please could anyone who is familiar with setting up trusts and investing give me some advice about whether this situation sounds right. I am concerned I may be paying too much for financial advice. Santander Easy Access Limited Edition
The Key Document ofr this account states the annual interest at 5.20% AER/gross and the monthly interest rate at 5.08% AER/gross. Should the monthly not read 5.08% gross (5.20% AER)? Or have I misunderstood how AER works?
