VOTE now! Proposed take over of Virgin Money - Nationwide members should be given a vote
I'm really unhappy about Nationwide management running roughshod over their members (we the customers own the building society as it's a mutual), trying to push through a deal to buy Virgin Money. My quick take: * Nationwide management have proposed a takeover of Virgin Money * Terms of the deal have been agreed, but it is…

HSBC Global Strategy Fee Increase?
Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but someone on another forum posted that the fees for the HSBC Global Strategy range of funds were to increase from 28th March. The below linked pdf document from January would seem to confirms this, though they would also seem to be implementing a discount structure based on…

Missing share dividends
My aunt has shares in Sun Life Financial of Canada. In 2019 I contacted Link Group to register a power of attorney, which I was told had happened but they failed to copy all pages of the PoA and so it was not logged against my aunts account. At the same time I asked if dividends could be paid by bacs and was told that they…

Trading 212 pies - record keeping
Hi all, can anyone spread light on how they do record keeping on “pies” whilst using Trading 212 ? Some pies can be quite big (upto 50 different companies) .. so if held in a GIA, and gains are made, how does anyone go about listing / calculating the elements within to get the calculations done?

Gilt vs. wealth preservation fund for less than 2 years liability
I have a BTL property with the current low rate deal expiring towards the end of next year. I am very likely to keep the property as a BTL and given where interest rates are expected to be, I will want to pay off a significant portion of the mortgage. I have some funds earmarked for this sort of purpose, currently held in…

The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…

£60,000 annual pensions contributions allowance and end of tax year.
Hi Everyone… I am looking to top up my pension contribution of the current tax year before the end of the tax year on 5 April. My question is when are the tax rebates considered credited by HMRC. I pay higher rate tax and the 20% is automatically credited by my provider but is it considered credited on the date of…

General Discussion and Whimsical Banter
It was only a matter of time. Personally I've never minded the off-topic comments in the main threads to discuss top easy access and regular savings accounts, but I can see it's becoming a greater problem given that there just isn't a whole lot going on in the top end of the savings accounts market right now and possibly…

Helping Mum plan to reduce exposure to Tax on Savings Interest - thoughts invited
Hi, this is my first post here. It is primarily to do with savings and tax on interest, although there are also elements of inheritance and mortgage about it too, so I hope I’ve posted it in the correct place. Also, sorry for such a long post. I appreciate it covers a lot of ground and I’m sure it looks a bit “amateur…

YBS Savings Accounts
Anyone know/understand why YBS let you get accounts but stop you from depositing until they complete checks? (Even if you already with them?). Like applied for a 5.75% one earlier, shows account details in app. Trying to get my head around why they would give me the account if they need to do checks.

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top EA discussion' thread. FinaMetrica Risk Profiling
Has anyone used FinaMetrica to do a risk profile? Everything I can find online for free puts me pretty much in 60/40. Wondering if it's worth the £30 to do one of these as it may be a cheap lesson on my real appetite for risk. Though I suppose none of these profilers are a substitute for seeing actual money drop off a…
