Self Assessment: Savings Interest Statements for closed accounts.
Because of frequent interest rate changes, I ended up with savings accounts with a number of different organisations over the last tax year. Many of these acounts are now closed. In some cases I am no longer able to login to the website to obtain interest statements. One example being Secure Trust Bank. In other cases I…

UK STRIPS - how to calculate the correct price / return
I've seen a UK STRIP priced at £92.80 and maturing in March next year. To my novice eye, this would appear to offer an 7.2% return in under a year, which I appreciate can't be correct. The website says: Index linked gilts are bought and sold at an 'inflation adjusted price'. If you own an index linked gilt issued after…

VOTE now! Proposed take over of Virgin Money - Nationwide members should be given a vote
I'm really unhappy about Nationwide management running roughshod over their members (we the customers own the building society as it's a mutual), trying to push through a deal to buy Virgin Money. My quick take: * Nationwide management have proposed a takeover of Virgin Money * Terms of the deal have been agreed, but it is…

Changing Shares To Joint Ownership
With the reduction in annual dividend allowance to £500 I'll likely have to pay tax on my dividends this year. So I'm thinking of transferring my shares to joint ownership with my wife to get around this. My understanding is that we'd then split the dividend(s) between us for tax purposes. Is that correct? I've not done…

Bed & ISA
I’ve got shares in 3x companies, two running at a loss and 1 doing well. Over all I’ve got approx £7500 in value which I’m only a few hundred quid in profit. The shares are at a loss are £4200 and 500, the gain is £5000. The question I have is do the losses negate any possible CGT on the gain? when moving shares of this…

lower risk funds - and/or stop loss?
Probably a dumb question - and I'm certainly a beginner where it comes to funds - but I'll be looking to add more cash to my ISA's... (or near cash equivalents) in the next month, and I'm wondering if there is an alternative to cash that would beat an "easy access ISA"? I've looked at Royal London Short Term Money Market Y…

Principality BS timings
Hello, Anyone got any experience with principality bs? I got in on a 5% variable ISA with them. I cannot seem to locate an FAQ on how long their withdrawals take - if it’s more than 24h I might leave part of my emergency fund in another cash ISA that is instant. Also I have waited over 5 days for their activation code - do…
