45,000 to Invest
With 45000 pounds cash I am thinking of buying a 1 bed flat to rent out. Is this viable or is there a better way to invest it? I am looking for secure investment with high returns ...but safe too. Thanks for any input.

Which accounts do you need to request new interest rates?
Currently have some savings in Shawbrook, and it's the first time I've encountered a savings account whereby the customer has to request to be moved onto the higher interest rate, as opposed to being automatically moved (I appreciate this is just my lack of knowledge!). I have always used MSE to guide me on the highest…

Premium bonds unusual situation, for me!
We have the maximum holdings and each month we get something. This month we got a single £25 which is most unusual. I realise this is financial gambling but over the many years of holding the bonds the returns have been up and down but overall reasonable whilst not spectacular, hence my question. Has anyone else had…

ISA confusion

I have also opened another cash ISA with a different provider this tax year. I would like to open a nationwide 1 year fixed rate ISA this tax year as well, and transfer…

Premium Bonds Question
After eight consecutive wins on my £50k set o premium bonds I have just had two months with zero wins Is it worth cashing in my PBs and buying new PBs with the hope of kick starting my winning streak again Or is this pointless With interest rates on easy access savers currently above 4.5% is it better to go for this option

Short term investment
We are in the process of selling a relative’s home (we have Power of attorney) because she has gone into a nursing home. She will be self funding but has enough savings to pay for about 9 months of care. The proceeds from the house sale will need to pay for her future care but we are wondering if we can invest some of it…

Transferring from Stocks and Shares ISA
I'd like to transfer £20k from Fidelity Stocks and Shares ISA into a cash ISA. Is this straightforward to do? And any suggestions as to which cash ISA is the best. I already have one with Yorkshire Building Society and one with Skipton which I could add to but not sure if they will do this from S&S ISA. Thanks.

Which fixed term savings accounts allow withdrawal for a fee?
I’ve found it advantageous to open ISA accounts with high interest rates and a small exit penalty (ie 60 day’s interest) opposed to easy access savings accounts. I’m now more likely to have a decent savings pot for a year or so before a property purchase but still don’t want money locked away just in case. I’ve noticed…

Interest in fixed saving account changed few days after I opened it - can I ask for an adjustment? (
Hi I would like to know your opinion. I opened at the beginning of July this year a 1 year fixed rate saving account with Lloyds Bank in the UK. At that point, the interest rate was 5% (pretty decent). Only a few weeks after, the interest rate has gone up to 5.5% with the same kind of account but obviously, mine has not…

Overpay mortgage or savings account?
Hi I am currently 9 months into a 5 year fixed rate mortgage at 4.3%. I am in a fortunate position to have some disposable income each month. My question - is it better to make overpayments or pay money into a savings account with the current high interest rates on offer? Many thanks Jay

Daisy-chaining minimum monthly deposits
Hi everyone, I've got a question regarding minimum monthly deposits for current accounts. I want to get the bonus interest rate in several current accounts at once, which have minimum monthly deposits. Is there anything stopping me "daisy-chaining" payments between these accounts using standing orders? i.e. if I have 3…

Trend from Passive funds to Bank accounts
The threads on this forum have noticeably moved from discussing passive funds to bank Fixed rate savings and Regular savings accounts, even though the interest rates are not more than inflation. Why is this? Or is it just a trend of the retired/soon to retire posters? My passive funds and CGT/CG absolute fund are…

Savings/accounts (overseas resident)
Hello, Im looking at some opinions on savings accounts (not current account) that will allow a fairly decent interest rate, but more importantly safe/secure, and perhaps short notice period for withdrawls. Accounts with consistent rate increases?
I have used chip now for a while and want to spread the risk. I see Paragon is now in the top spot, but have they consistently increased their rates on existing accounts? Have any other top accounts done this? (chip have)

Am i being too cynical?...
...anybody else think that savings rates have been cut recently so if a rate rise is announced tomorrow they can put the rates back up to what they were a few weeks ago?
