How much difference does no claims discount make as an older driver?
I'm in my early 40s and been driving since I was 21 but for many years I have only been a named driver on my wife's insurance. I'm looking to get a 2nd car in my own name and I have no idea if I can put any NCD or not for the years I was insured... I don't even know when this was, I probably had 10yrs NCD but haven't been…

Guesswork from loss adjuster?
A loss adjuster has said that a crack in my house is "typical cracking related to thermal movement". This is not a concrete opinion though, what is the case here, do loss adjusters just make educated guesses, or should I push for proper confirmation?

Car insurance named driver
My daughter was on my insurance last year, as a named driver, when another car hit her on the roundabout. No question as to whose fault it was. If she were to take out her own insurance on her own car does she put down my claim as she was the driver? Difference of opinion at the Funnie Farm. TIA

Car insurance premiums going through the roof - why?
I've heard people saying that the main reason is because of the increased cost of replacing car parts. But is that really the full story? Seems to me that car insurance is increasing at such a rate as to make it unaffordable to many. Does the whole industry need a rethink? Could the state offer a very basic third party…

Car insurance - industry standard?
Hi all, Just renewed my car insurance in good time, but think I may have to cancel it. Browsing through the policy booklet, Budget Insurance won't cover me for misfueling nor for damage caused by fire, theft or attempted theft. My wife, a named driver, is also excluded from driving other cars. Is this a standard industry…

In a bedroom the floor has dropped down. A builder has examined and concluded a joist needs inserting and hardboard replacing which has cracked. Home insurance - Cost increase of 50% + £56!!
I'm with Policy Expert and my home insurance renewal quote is a massive 50% increase on last year plus it would cost £56 extra to pay by direct debit. I'd read that increases were about 20%. I have emailed them to ask them to justify the increase but have had no reply. What is going on?

I’m being asked for frankly ridiculous things Such as an invoice for my easyJet…

Vehicle insurance cancellation fees
Hello all, My first submission.....just cancelled my Motor Insurance for a motor home well before the term was up. The premium was £309.74 and I was just short of 6 months into the insurance period. I did not, of course, expect 50% of the premium to be returned and fully expected an admin charge to be imposed for early…

We are in the process of getting the carpet on our stairs changed after accidentally dropping a can of varnish down it. We had accidental cover under our home insurance. Car purchase date incorrectly set by Compare The Market raises quote by 25%
Just been trying to renew my car insurance. As expected my current provider put their quote up by a chunky sum so I went to CTM and got better quotes. Went to current insurer to cancel, and it turned out CTM doesn't even give them the purchase date of the car (not that it should matter) so they randomly fill it in to…

My son's car insurance is due for renewal at the end of April and we have been sourcing quotes. Insurer failed to renew my car insurance
Hello Almost exactly a month before my car insurance was up for renewal, I called my insurer for a renewal quote and asked them to set my policy for auto renewal. I then went abroad for 3 weeks, a period during which my policy should have renewed. My car was left on my driveway. Last Friday evening when I returned, about…
