Food Seasonings
I have some recipes which I think will lend themselves well to doubling up, but because I haven't done them before I want to do a half quantity (i.e. one meal) to make sure we like them. No point in having 3 lots of a meal that we hate in the freezer. My problem is that if the recipe calls for 1t of chilli powder should I…

Ammonia
Thanks to those who responded about Bicarb earlier - I made my first trip to Wilkinson as a result - what a place - I bought loads of fab stuff including Stardrops which I'm going to try. But one of the things I've seen on the posts is reference to using Ammonia to clean - yet when I asked in Wilkinson's today they told me…

Best-value kitchen rolls
I'm working like mad to cut down my shopping bills each month and am not doing too badly so far. I've taken the advice of several people to buy the 'value' brand of supermarket foodstuff where possible instead of their regular 'own brand' and quite honestly no-one has noticed the difference! Or they haven't said anything…

warmer in bed
I did do a search and couldn't find where to put this so if it shouldn't be here sorry please move it. I have just discovered the delights of using polar fleece as sheets. I bought from Ikea very cheap blue polar throws and one very cold night sat watching television wrapped in one. When it came time to go to bed I…

Beef mince. Shocked by water content
I need some advice on this. I bought some lean organic minced beef from graigfarm organics. I dry fried a 475g pack and I got a lot of liquid. I lightly strained the liquid and was left with 340g of meat. What shall I do as I feel as though water has been added and I have been ripped off. By the way the texture of the…

After many months of lurking and posting the odd titbit I think I now qualify as an os rookie, today I went out and bought my Morphy Richards slow cooker and a bottle of stardrops ( not to be used at the same time) I think I should qualify for my os membership. Have read recipe book which came along with slow cooker…
