Fix trainer insoles - worth it or not?
I have 2 pairs of trainers which have broken insoles. Any ideas on how to fix them? I can't walk on them without pain. Or is the best idea to replace them? The soles are fine by the way.

Weekly Flylady Thread 26th September 2022
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Cooking for one, replacement for main oven?
Living on my own and looking at what it costs to use my main oven, I am looking at a possible alternative. During the week I mainly use my oven for a pizza, garlic bread, lasagne or pasta bake. But come the weekend I do like to cook a Sunday roast, so something that will accommodate a chicken or a joint of meat and then…

Filling the oven when on
Hi Is there any websites anyone can recommend that tell you what recipes cook at x degrees? Tonight I'm cooking a pesto/tomato tart at 200degrees for 20/25minutes. I've spent ages trying to find something else I can put in the oven on the other shelf at the same time, a cake or biscuit recipe, or something for tomorrow's…

To smart meter or not to smart meter?
My utility supplier is pushing for the installation of a smart meter(s). The electric one is in a communal hall and awkward to read. The gas meter is in my flat. My last provider was one of those who went bust and I’ve ended up with a large and not particularly green supplier, so once things have settled down (if they ever…

Tackling sweat stains on clothing
Hopefully the right forum. Couldn't find one more suitable. Sweat stains, maybe deoderant stains, I don't know. I have this white t-shirt which is relatively new. I've worn it a few times in the last few months. I remember the first time I wore it was when we had that scorchio weather so inevitably pretty sweaty. Anyway,…

new flannelette or cotton sheets confusion.
due to an unfortunate accident with some paint! I need to buy some new bedding. so I figured I would get some flannelette one, as a lot of posters comment on putting these on the bed for winter. so searching, I get cotton and poly flannel, poly flannel and even cotton flannel. which ones are the ones I need in your…

Alternative heating, fuel and the future.
So we moved into our house a couple of years ago (Victorian house, double glazed, some inner wall insulation) and were offered and took up the offer of free Solar Panels and, as an emergency measure, I got a multifuel stove put in in the dining room. Until recently I've not considered using it, but with the ongoing fuel…

Freezing chicken breast
We use a lot of chicken breast. I typically buy large packs and then portion them up to freeze. I’m trying ( like many others) to reduce my use of plastic bags. Currently I’m finding it easier to use small plastic/freezer/sandwich bags to portion up the meat - both on convenience and storage in the freezer. What other…

Ninja air fryer recipe book
We recently bought a Ninja dual basket air fryer. Have been looking around for a decent recipe book to use but there seem to be so many. Also, some seem to give American units of measurement so prefer imperial measurements to use. Can anyone recommend one that they have used in the past, thanks for any help
